i like this video Tin Man, ive been scrapping for about 21 years, ive stripped thousands of washers and dryers.... but now and then i like to go back to the basics ...the way technology is advancing it's good to look at things that are new, I'm not used to doing the new machines I'm used to doing the old machines! you know what would be nice just to keep those cement blocks and make like a walkway with him to save them up until you have enough!! im a subscriber! Keep it up my Brother!

Tin man. Have you ever thought about fixing appliances or selling the good parts I would think that you’re an expert on what goes wrong with this stuff. Or maybe talk to a local repair place and swap good parts for scrap.? Just a thought great video.

We were learning about the atomic structure in school and in one of our lessons the teacher said that they melt washing machine and other stuff Cuz it has silver in it, it sounded so ridiculous so I searched it up and people wasting their lives scraping washing machine is a thing. Good job😂😂😂😜

My scrapyard says I can scrap whitegoods and then still sell to them for $200 per tonne (similar dollar value to canadian) so they would willingly buy those lumps of concrete

i always see these junk guys driving around the neighborhood, wonder if they're just scaping the steel or stripping them? i'm gonna have to get out there and start looking for stuff too.

I still don’t understand why people think magnetic stainless steal is somehow worth less, since a quick google search and even wikipedia discredit this myth...

I agree, but at a scrapyard, their laws rule. They will not take as s.s. But same price as tin

Howdy, on older washing machine timers- Are those contacts silver as well?
@TinManScrapper
@TinManScrapper 4 жыл бұрын
I would have to see what it looks like in the back. A lot of timers if flat square box has 4 copper pieces and small ring of brass, but. no silver contacts, but again I would have to see it to be sure.

Is it possible to get the cast aluminum bearing bracket under the drum on some models or do you leave it attached as tin ?
@TinManScrapper
@TinManScrapper 2 ай бұрын
You can get some of it. (Either unscrew some parts and grind off the rest, but I don’t go crazy trying to cut off every piece.

I enjoyed your video. in my state (Minnesota) they are so worried about mercury getting into the landfill from these large appliances. Do you know where to look for these mercury switchs on these appliances?

Is there a magnetic wrap around the copper wire perhaps? If you cut it with a pair of pliers does the wire have a copper wire in the middle?

would putting that moter in coper bearing motors be dishonest? knowing its aluminum if its not copper? if cought would that give you a reputation of cheating? really i just don't know or is it industry standard to do that im new to scraping and will scrap out my first washer tomorrow.. i m not going to lie to get money.. ... would it be better if its aluminum windings to save the aluminum outer shell and save the rest as shred?
@TinManScrapper
@TinManScrapper 2 жыл бұрын
Again, it depends on your yard, some have actually just put it in The copper motor pile for me, as I only had a few. That was also when copper was not at it’s all time high price. Now because there is a separate category for aluminum windings it will not be accepted.

Unfortunately, I am not a repair man, nor have the time to fix everything I find. I was racing against the clock (aka garbage man) because they throw them into the garbage truck, so just glad I could scrap it and it did not end up in the landfill
