well, depends how much time he spends trying to salvage a 5¢ piece a brass...... And he spends so much time to salvage insignificant quantities of metal.

@@nelsonroy5065 if your going to take them out in the first place to get clean aluminium then its not difficult or time consuming to just put them in a pot.and im not telling anyone to do anything totally up to the individual what they do.👍

the best way to get the push buttons out is to use needle nose pliers. Push in buttons on boath sides reach in hole and pull out. also a good tool for a punch is the axle off of the paint sprayer to use to get into pipes and tubes,

I have drilled out the rivets on crutches before, they come out quickly. My scrapyard has a 95% clean aluminum category if I don't remove the tiny rivets too, which is nice. Much better price than dirty aluminum.

My yard pays less than shred price for dirty aluminum... I used to keep it separate and take in dirty aluminum. After seeing sooo many pieces of dirty aluminum in the shred pile I just decided to say fuck it and toss all my dirty in the shred pile...

UK crutches are way different to the ones you have. They have an arm clip at the top. The handle sticks out at 90 degrees from the handle and the whole thing consists of 2 tubes unlike the 3 yours has.

It's more fun for me to see you're struggling with a piece of scrap Phil. And I think for others too.( sorry).Do you have to buy those cruches when you need them in Canada? We can just use them and give them back for the next person. In Holland the things are different.

Didn't you say dirty they were $1.24 and clean was $1.40 if that's right you are making 16 cents by cleaning them you aren't doubling your money.
@CanadianTreasureHunter
@CanadianTreasureHunter 2 жыл бұрын
Its about 40 Cents with our high prices, But most scrap yards pay 10 to 15 Cents only & at one time they where saying put it into the shred, Its not a money maker but depends on what they pay for dirty

Come on, for a few bucks an hour? Great video btw I personally never waste time cleaning aluminium, it doesn't weigh enough + where I live in Australia, that gain per set would be about 40c. Definitely not worth wasting time on. Time is money

@@CanadianTreasureHunter yeah I'm sure you'd be way faster than I would be. It's always faster too if you clean up a lot of same items at once isn't it? Once you fiddle around figuring out the first one, then you can whip through the rest really fast

Not really worth the effort for me - it is .30 cents dirty or 45 clean since it is considered sheet. If it was extruded then it would be worth it. Nice info though
