I think he was going for a gogoplata but Nick managed to put weight on his right side to deny Rida's leg to come in fronto of his face. Don't think there was any choke in that situation as Nick's neck was completely free (apart from that unconfortable elbow).

I'm pretty sure he was just trying to frame and make distance, using that hand under the leg kinda like a shoulder crunch can be useful
