uF stands for microfarad and that is the capacitance (amount it will hold / size) of the capacitor.
@nickzwa4 жыл бұрын
those capacitors are actually quite powerful. there worth a decent amount each. just a word of warning, capacitors store charge, and with big arse ones like that, its a lot of charge, so be sure to short them out with something with a nonconductive handle before handling them. 4400uF = charge capacity, measured in microfarads(uF) more is better basically. 385 VDC = Volts Direct Current, thats your voltage and mode of charge/discharge. this combined with the capacity is quite high. so fear it. these could literally stop your heart if you touch a full one with both hands. +- 20% is self explanatory. and the temps are your min and max operating temps. they may explode if over max temp. to be honest, the capacitors are probably worth more than the scrap metal. no idea what those modules filled with silicon gel are but there full of gold and silver and probably a few other expensive metals.

I was watching one of your old videos the other day where you scrapped an old crt that you saw just dumped on the grass verge. I was disgusting with some of the comments that people were aiming at you, I know it doesn't bother you but if they don't like what you do then just don't watch them. Half arsed stupid comments and they are that stupid they do not realise that if you didn't pick it up it would end up in landfill. Those capacitors a simple way to tell if they are bad is on the top between the power lugs there is a round spot with a plastic insert, if there's a hole in it then it is bad because when the capacitor goes bad it produces gases and to keep it from exploding it blows a hole in the plastic plug.

Check out the power semiconductors modules that will the bolted on the heatsinks, for gold bond wires. But not open them if the package says anything about Beryllium or BeO. The capacitor banks are probably long time discharged, but it should be safer to check them with a voltmeter, and dischage with needed with a light bulb and wire (not a direct short circuit...)

Once the IGBT, insulated gate bipolar transistors, go bad the drives are unfit for large scale industrial purposes. Can’t lose motor/pump control when meltdown or chemical release is on the line. The capacitors will be damaged by voltage spikes and are only good for hobbyists. Even if you ran every capacitor in series you couldn’t drive an electric car to the end of the block.
