Very much enjoying your Scraplications series. I just had to hop on here to tell you that your But First, Coffee embellishment reminded me of a book I read back in the 1980's. It had a big impact on me at the time. It is "First We Have Coffee", by Margaret Jensen. Wonderful stories about her mother & childhood. It was particularly interesting to me too, because she lived around the corner from my mother-in-law. I think you would love the book😊 I see it has been reviewed on Goodreads & is still available.

Very fun! Your scraps look much neater then mine. Do you organize them by color?
@CatHand5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Terri! No, they’re not organized by color - I’m doing good just to get all those strips together in one basket! The rest of my scraps are all mixed together in a couple of other baskets/drawers. 😊
@terrimoore93055 жыл бұрын
@@CatHand That makes me feel better, thank you! I go back and forth between wanting to over organize them into little containers and then forgetting about half of them (lol) to liking them all jumbled together because sometimes when they are like that, I can see combinations that I wouldn't have other wise!
@pjp93834 жыл бұрын
@@terrimoore9305 For big scraps, I like jumbled together so that, as you say, you can see colour combinations you might not think to put together. But for little teeny tiny scraps, I have a plastic clam shell container with 3 sections, that cut up fruit came in. Your colour categories may vary, but my brain likes it when I organize those scraps by yellow/orange, blue/green, and red/purple. Or you could do warm colours, cool colours, and neutrals. This works for me when I need just the tiniest little thin strip to finish off a page, or a little square to punch out a tiny heart or flower embellishment.

Not everyone has a 'box of scraps' so It might be helpful if you givee suggestions or ideas where to find 'scraps'.... like I think I see the inside an envelope in your pile... that's a MARVY idea!!... Got more ideas? Do you have a video on this?
@pjp93834 жыл бұрын
My (sincerely!) non-snarky response is "Make something, and voila! Instant scraps!" 😆 But maybe that's because I just did that! I had a good crafting session, making some bookmarks in different colour schemes. Then a couple of days later, before I had cleared up my play area, I saw an Ina Solsbery video with an art challenge for March - tags made with scraps and washi tape, monochromatic plus black and white. Back I went to my crafting area, and now I have 5 tags as well, in blue, red and yellow colour schemes! So if you're a scrapbooker, or card maker, or whatever type of art you do, challenge yourself to use up your leftovers before tidying things away. And yes, security envelopes are great, plus drop papers, or as I saw Cat respond somewhere else, splash out some paint on regular paper and tear it up, and those are scraps too! Or use rubber stamps on tissue paper. My recent score, and the inspiration for the bookmarks, was getting a bag of small fabric scraps from a dressmaker I know. Adds a different texture to a mixed media piece, and gorgeous patterns and colours (these were mostly African print fabrics, ordered from Ghana). Hope this helps!
