the real reason for being rotary is to eliminate the mass of the flywheel of the engine and build a lighter engine. in this case the cylinders will act as flywheel. The problem was created by the gyroscopic forces that made difficult to turn the plane to one side, this is was abandoned later.

It sounds like the real thing. I was at a museum and outside the airport hangar they started the engine up of a Caudron plane (it might have been a replica but I think they said it wasn’t). The pilot had to keep the engine going by revving it or putting more throttle in so it wouldn’t turn off. They said the engine was so loud it sounded like gunshots, I reckon it did! as the sound also echoed through the hangar next to it. This happened to me too with a big Stampe biplane. The lesson is to always have big high rates available, more than you think you could possibly need. Many times you wind up trimming the nose down for powered flight and then the glide dives beyond pitch control. You can lift the nose up with power but at some point you have to land. If you have time you can move the trim to full up elevator to help with the landing.

Absolutely stunning model :) Great seeing the ground runs, I bet you have to concentrate on the rudder with that engine and prop. And what an engine, beautiful :) Oh man I wrote my comment before the end! I am glad there wasn't much damage - very lucky that field was full of crops!

_Hello Sam. Thank you for your great comment !_ In the end, it was good that the model landed on the cornfield instead of the hard runway. The large propeller had shredded the corn, preventing major damage to the model. _Cheers, Horst_
