Building up details like the motor on a sheet of styrene is genius. So many times, the parts are so small that they're next to impossible to manage without damaging previous work. Thanks for sharing.

I need to find another adjective for 'Brilliant'!. A super scratchbuild, esp the motor. As usual, you're humble; the bow must have involved some pretty fancy compound cuts to get the proper rise even with a lot of 'melted' joints! The result looks amazing! These 19' RHIBs were the workhorses of our marine surveys, so I'm REALLY tempted to try one. Try, try, and try again with Boomer's words of encouragement in my head. Thanks for sharing!

Actually, the bow I cheated a little. I tucked it under a piece of thin rod that was welded to the bottom of the sponson. Thank you!

For a rescue boat the rear hoop may mount a navigation light and possibly a spot light or two to help with searching, at night, it's also quite common to mount a radio antennae there to get that little extra height slightly increasing the range of the radio

Very nice. I am wondering if you had say 6 lifeboats to do (maybe a ferry with passengers), would you vacuum form or make a mold and cast them?
@boomerdiorama2 ай бұрын
You could vacu-form or build a traditional mold. On the other hand, a perfect opportunity for 3D print if you are up for the learning curve. 😁

Wow !! Just wonder how many challenges you put in your morning cereal bowl... Can you tell us in your movie career the scales you worked with ? I think it´s unfair in many scenes that don´t last long enough to us, the viewers to see all details and tremendous works and efforts, artists like you have put in a model scene. Not to mention when models must be destroy in explosion etc... probably full exitement when successfull but hearthbreaking also to see so many hours gone in dust. Not to mention the many copys or repairs for extra shots. Thanks for your patient teaching and time in video, reading, and answering our comments. You´re really a master chef with a good hearth. God bless you. An HO Dusty somewhere will be a nice clin d´oeil add on.😊😊😊😊

Most movie models end up rotting in the back of a movie studio storage locker . . . lol. Most of the models I worked on were Quarter Scale. Not 1/48 scale! 1/48 scale is 1/4" is a foot. In true "Quarter Scale" is (3" inches is a foot) and 1/4" is an inch. They are huge for the purposes of detail and scale lighting, etc. The ultimate challenge in HO scale @ (1/8" is a foot) is trying to achieve realism, and the fact that it is doable as a hobby in terms of space and budget. ;-) Cheers.
@danielfantino17142 ай бұрын
@@boomerdiorama Thanks Boomer. That´s really gigantic. So an 85 footer RDC is 85" X 3 = 255 ÷ 12" = 21.25 feet long. Can´t even have 2 back to back inside a 40 Ft boxcar. In Trains magazine many decades ago an article about Hitler´s mega train project. It was roughly twice as wide, long and height. Too bad finally it never left a drawing board and none were builted even as mock up. Cheers my friend.
