For anyone who hasn't pulled parts from a mold or vacuum bag it's like opening a birthday present. Thanks for the great vidoes promoting craftsmanship and building.

Lol. You're right!!! It doesn't matter how many times you do it, it's always exactly like that.

I'm loving the build process. I've found it very informative and inspiring. Back in episode 1 you said you used a lot of blue tape. I thought, how much could he possibly use? Wow. You weren't kidding. Thanks for posting this series.

Another great video 1 trick you can do when you put your template on the item to be routed is either double sided tape or what luthiers ( guitar builders ) do is put masking tape on say the template mark where it goes on the part to be routed the put masking tape on it where it was marked and then put cheap ca on 1 of the tape part and then press down and it will stay put until you remove it saves re taping all off the time
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
Yeah, double sided tape was my first method. That quickly got far too expensive and unreliable. Painters tape is cheap, quickly removed and very stable when used as a strap clamp. The router table really needs a stable clamp system. Any movement is catastrophic. I should have discussed that in the video. Perhaps I will in the next episode. Thanks.

Great series, but why has it stopped halfway during the build ?
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay Alfred but I've had some medical issue get in the way; neck, back and gallbladder. I'm doing much better and filming as we speak. New episodes will be out soon.

Mike, great to hear you’re back ! Keep up the good work. If only I had room for a workshop like yours….
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
@@alfredvink In my experience, workshops are NEVER big enough. I need to triple my space at least. It's a pain to swap it over from furniture projects to plane projects. It takes about half a day to get things shifted back in place. Be sure to join the RC FOAMCORE WINGS Facebook group for ongoing conversations about this and other Foam Core stuff. I'm getting a batch of BushGnats ready in my spare time and posting their progress there.

@@mikencrcf6018 I agree that it is a pain to convert from project types. My work space is shared with a classic car and I don't have dust collection system so as you can imagine, my productivity is challenged. I do a lot of my 'non dusty and smelly work' in a spare bedroom.

I've been asking around on RC plane forums, hobby company's IE Horizon Hobby and others and I even called a company that makes real General Aviation aircraft and I get no answers so I'm here to ask you if I may? I own a 1965 Mooney M20C that used to be my dad's (who bought it new) until he passed so I inherited it. I would love to scratch build this Mooney from the different landing gear to the backwards tail it looks to have. Do you know how I can get ahold of plans that I can build a Mooney?
@mikencrcf60183 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I do not. As a scratch builder, I would simply take the general plane shape and characteristics (fuse shape, wind cord and shape, tail shape etc.. and build away.. I understand that is not feasible for many guys. It's really not that hard with a basic understanding of scratch building. My son owns a M20. Wonderful little aircraft.

it looks really similar to the 201? maybe? if you google cambrian model company they have a kit of a mooney 201 with a 62" wingspan. Maybe they would sell just the plans? They look very similar, it might be a good base to start with

I know right? Lots going on behind the scenes. Sorry for that but it's beyond my control. I am editing the first of the three part canopy set as we speak. I want to get it out so guys can gather materials and build their tools. I'll have it out tonight. I will finish the tail filming tonight and get the editing done this weekend.
