Laurie was so good in this role. Those wide, insane eyes and that pure psychotic rage as she's trying to stab Sidney. Such a great performance. And she's still the most shocking Ghostface reveal for me. Didn't even consider her or her true identity when I first watched Scream 2.

I feel like there some sort of gay subtext with the killers in this movie because tonally, Mrs Loomis and Mickey were very appealing but yet there's so many innuendos that suggest that they both could be gay. Although I wholeheartedly agree with your belief that Laurie Metcalf is an incredibly talented actress, I wouldn't call her "underrated". She has an Oscar nomination under her belt, along with 4 Emmy wins and several other Emmy AND Golden Globe nominations and many more minor acting award wins and nominations (e. g., she was the recipient of the Circuit Community Award in 2017; George Film Critic Association winner for Best Actress;in 2018; a 2018 nomination for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (a BAFTA award), etc, etc...). The list of acting awards and nominations from over the years just goes on and on. Not only that, but she has 87 acting credits to her name, including her very well known and critically acclaimed role of Roseanne's troubled, neurotic, naive but ultimately loving younger sister, Jackie, on the very popular show Roseanne and it's spin-off, the Conner's. I know I may have gone we as little bit overboard lol, but I just wanted to illustrate my point as best to as I could...Laurie Metcalf is NOT underrated in the very least. But yeah, I still completely agree with your opinion that she's a great actress. There's definitely no debating that at all, especially for at least after rewatching this scene again, I've reminded myself of how insanely good she is at her art . Anyways, no biggie. What I find clever and also incredibly chilling are the similarities between Mrs. Loomis' relationship with Billy and Mickey. For starters, she abandons her own son, Billy, in spite of her husband's infidelities. She further traumatizes her teenage son as a consequence of his father's negligence. Years later, Mrs. Loomis then takes Mickey, an incredibly troubled young man, under her wing. She deliberately preys on Mickey's mental health issues by becoming a mother figure to him in exchange for helping her carry out the murders. And then, without hesitation, Mrs. Loomis betrays Mickey and ultimately abandons him as well. Her ability to weaponize her maternal instincts while simultaneously using the struggles of motherhood to justify her own selfish/psychotic deeds is extremely disturbing. To be honest, I don't think this was ever about avenging her son. I think Mrs. Loomis was nuts to begin with. Losing Billy merely gave her an excuse to start killing.

That look she gives in the distance towards Gale when she first appears is pure evil, 0:01 it’s like a predator spotting its prey and plotting its attack. Also at 7:07 and 7:24 when she attacks Sidney, it’s a feral, animalistic rage, full of hatred and bloodlust, she wants Sidney dead for killing her son and nothing else. Mrs. Loomis is by no means my favourite Ghostface but Laurie Metcalf gave a stellar performance. You really can tell the vengeance has consumed her and driven her completely insane.

@@raselahmed1503 Yeah, he wouldn't betray his kids. But it was stupidity of him to put his kids in this situation in the first place. Their plan to blame Sam was never gonna work either. The "public" like that girl who fought Sam in the beginning of the movie may would have thought that Sam was a monstrous killer, but there wouldn't be a single logical explanation to Sam or Tara being involved in every death/attack, specially when hot neighbor, the paramedics and the other people who ran away at the Bodega knows that the sisters were innocent. And their plan was to blame Sam for the attacks at NY and at Woodsboro, which was just pathetically idiotic. Although Mrs. Loomis was not gonna blame Sidney for the murders, her plan to kill Mickey and blame him in the end was perfect. Of course Sidney was protected by plot armor and she did a pretty good job to fool Mrs. Loomis ("Isn't Mickey supposed to be dead?" was one of Sidney's smartest moments in the franchise), Mrs. Loomis plan to scape and blame someone else was top notch very well orchestrated.

Also, most of the deaths in Scream 6 were from extras. Why on Earth would Sam or Tara kill those randoms? It just not makes sense. At least Mrs. Loomis made a list of who would die and at what order, and throughout their plan, she changed it to isolate Sidney and ordered Mickey to attack and kill everyone close to her, while Mrs. Loomis focused on her personal revenge to attack and kill the survivors from Woodsboro.

Outside of the betrayal they’re mostly similar. Mickey was important because he was around Sidney’s age and therefore could infiltrate her friend group plus he was far more athletic than Nancy which was another reason she used him. Bailey already had his two kids to infiltrate Sam and Tara’s friend group and was a trained cop so he didn’t need hired muscle.

I like to think that Nancy Loomis\Debbie Salt is the secondary antagonist of the saga. Sidney is right, Ms Loomis is just as pathetic and crazy as Billy was, and I was her own fault for abandoning him, and despite everything she was dumb enough to blame Sidney when it was Billy's own fault for making her kill him. He took her friend from her. I'm glad Cotton killed her, he knew it was never Sidney fault, because Billy framed him.
