i was 16 when this came out. I still have both Soundtracks in my car from part one and 2. Scream 2 is the grestest horror sequel of all time. It is also a painful reminder of how good nightmare 2 could have been if wes craven did it. RIP. Wes

This movie series has a very unique tone in soundtracks. It went from somewhat unknown musicians to mainstream musicians to harder rock music. I like them all except for the 4th movie that seemed like a blend generic pop/rock not bad but definitely for a newer generation.

@@cosmic687 sadly true, the quality changed for a forgettable generation that followed the 90s music wise.

Scream 2 was such a step up, even though the first Scream is iconic, but 2 really has such a nostalgic feel 🔥 The tracks during the credits, "the vibes are strong with this one." 🎵 #Scream2

@@rinhanzo08 Scream 2 just felt so polished and slick-I forgot that it was produced and released *less than a year* after the first, which says A LOT-with even more self awareness and a big name cast. Other than Neve Campbell and Wes Craven the original was a bunch of no names. 2 feels very 90s, and not in a good way. The lunchroom scene? Gag. The first movie was no indie but the tone could’ve fit in with the quick cheap slashers of the 80s. Ironically Scream 2 felt like one of the knock offs that the first one inspired in the late 90s, which were out to make money and kill popular young actors (peak 90s irony) rather than be scary. Very self aware, well known cast, more humor, no danger. Remember Drew Barrymore? Scream 2 had nothing approaching that darkness or brutality. As fun as they were Billy and Stu were genuinely twisted. Mickey and Billy’s mom? Afterthoughts.

@@speabody Okay, agree to disagree. Other than how much people can say it was a knock off from the first but you gotta admit the time and energy putting into the film. Especially how much every had on set making it, sure Derek's singing performance is kind of cringy, overall golden nuggets within is the beginning based on how terrifying it can be; Think about it, Jada/Maureen getting butchered in a crowd filled of people who think it's a prank, even though the horror thing about it is that she was dying (😫). And that's where get the saying, "It's not. A lot of shit happens at the movies, people get shot, murdered. Multiplexes is a dangerous place to be these days." -Randy Meeks

@@rinhanzo08 Sure Craven and Williamson were at the helm so it wasn’t soulless (i didn’t bother with pt 3 and from what I hear I shouldn’t) but it was an obvious cash-in. It should be noted that I’m not a horror purist or even fan really. I remember going to the teen horror movies of the late 90s and people cheering at the kills, rather than jumping or screaming from suspense. The point of those movies was fun, which is fine if that’s your thing. I personally want more scares and character than fun. E.g. I enjoyed Idle Hands but it was more fun than scary. It was all very much a calculated industry move targeting a specific demographic rather than a desire to tell stories or scare people. To be fair it’s my same complaint with action and superhero movies these days. It’s all snappy self aware dialogue with lots of banter and no danger and too much CGI. If the CGI is too noticeable I’m completely taken out of it because there are no stakes and no danger. I don’t care what happens. Everyone is interchangeable. In general 70s-90s action was darker, hit harder and was more brutal. E.g. I recently saw a revival screening of Robocop (1987). The film is very satirical and tongue in cheek but it took the violence and action seriously. The 2010s remake? PG13, which is exactly my point.

Great movie almost as good as the first. My only gripe they shudda killed of gale and Dewey instead of randy. Randy had so much more potential gale and Dewey became pointless in the later sequels. Still a rare amazing sequel to a horror film tho

Dewey being the mastermind killer does make sense especially if Gale is his accomplice. Especially for a new trilogy anyways Randy made Scream 1 and 2 work.
