Scream 3 is extremely underrated! - Sidney’s character arc is perfect - Sidney’s fight scene with Roman - Roman as single ghostface - what lacked in blood/gore, Wes made up for it with the cinematography - awesome soundtrack (love Creed) Scream 4 feels/looks like a CW Network show

I will say the soundtrack did lack in Scream 4, and the Trevor, and Jill stuff was pretty CWy, but the movie absolutely made that up with the kills, characters, action, a good pretty good mystery, meta when it needed to be, great acting, and awesome ghost face phone calls. Honestly everything else besides the Trevor, and Jill stuff, I like. I was first turned off by the weird filter, but I've grown to love it honestly, and Scream 5 to me just looks cheap, and makes me like the filter even more. Scream 4 I still say hasn't been topped with it's phone calls, characters, settings, and how the mean the kills are, Scream 4 is easily my favorite Scream film, and is a "remake" (not rlly a remake ik that) done right. And it's just nice to see how Dewey, Gale, and Sidney have been doing for 10 years. IMBd's 6.2/10 always makes me cringe, and so does Scream 3's 5.6/10, both movies are terrific, and are very underrated, and both surpass the original in my opinion. 😌

@@perppull the flaws of 4 are in the beginning where the tone is a bit off-ish, but after that I agree ghostfacs is more aggressive. Olivia’s kill is brutal and Sidney’s first phone call is menacing I love it. The ending of 4 is awesome and Jill is up there as one of my favorites ghostface. There’s is no “bad” Scream film in my opinion.

I got a feeling Roger sounds different across each all movies, and it's not only a matter of him geting old. I think it was his or Craven's ( and now RS's) concious decision to make each killer sound slightly different and suit the person behind the mask

December 20, 1996 when Scream came out, I went to a matinee by myself to see it. There were maybe 3 or 4 other people in the theater. Anyway, the first 15 minutes brought back many memories for me, when all the dialogue about past movies, we’re being discussed. I really enjoyed the first Scream. People often forget, usually the younger crowd, Scream didn’t do well in its first weekend. It took word of mouth for it to take off, the way it did. Another great video. 👍

In defense of Scream 4: The motive and reveal were the best in the entire franchise. The motive is super topical and only gets more relevant as time passes. It did the requel thing 7 years before Halloween 2018 and gets zero credit for that. It provides some of the best commentary in the entire franchise about the state of horror at the time (i.e. remakes). New things can be found with every rewatch. For example, I noticed the film is trying to tell us that Kirby is actually the new Sidney in this entry, not Jill. We are introduced to her first before Jill, Kirby stays at Jill’s house because her parents are out of town like Sidney staying with Tatum, and she gets stabbed twice in the gut just like Sidney. It’s just super thoughtful and there are multiple little things to be picked up on that none of the people hating on it seem to be seeing. There’s a whole theme of jealousy throughout the entire movie. Kate, Gale, Jill, etc. are all jealous of Sidney’s success and attention. Even Judy mentioned that Sidney got a better role in a high school play than her. Honestly, I feel like all of the Wes entries have a thesis statement or something they’re trying to say in subtext, which V and VI seem to be missing unfortunately. They’re good popcorn films, but don’t seem to be saying much deeper than an audience can pick up on the first watch. Everyone lately has started turned against it, when Scream 4 is over here being one of the best…I just don’t get it.

This feels like a Sophie's Choice type situation because I love all the movies, my lowest rating out of 10 was also a 7 for Scream 3, but as of now my ranking is Scream Scream 6 Scream 2 Scream 5 Scream 4 Scream 3. So awesome to get to come here and not just get to hear Mike's thoughts, but also everyone else's ranking in the comments! It really is a good time to be a Scream fan.

I'm really glad you did it starting from 1 because truly we ALL know what number 1 is. For me, 1. Scream(96) 2. Scream (2022) (They upped the stakes here and I felt like anyone could die. It brought the intensity in we needed.) 3. Scream 2 4. Scream 3 (I hated this movie when it first came out, but over the years, this is the one I watch to just have a good time.) 5. Scream 6 (This has potential to move up, but I've only seen it once) 6. Scream 4. (I keep trying, I do. Its still not a bad movie, but to me this one is one where it doesnt quite know where to set its tone. The opening is the worst of the franchise and Jill is too over the top for me as a killer. Not to mention this is the worst version of Dewey that we get. Where as Scream 3 knew what it was going to be doing, knew it was going for the cheese, Scream 4 felt like it was taking itself seriously and then through in some lines that didn't fit for humor. Deputy Judy's fainting in the hospital at the end is cartoony, Anthony Andersons 1 liner isn't something that is rooted in the severity of the scene. Ugh, just so much. BUT it is still a solid Screa movie and its still probably a 7.5 for me.)

I’m super late here but finally got around to seeing Scream 6 so I stayed away from any content surrounding it to avoid spoilers. I loved a lot of things in the movie overall but some stuff throughout & especially in the third act took me out a bit with the over the top/unbelievable shit. Definitely like 5 & 6 over 4 every day of the week. Don’t know if anybody commented this but...”Come come on the kick drum...Gary, come come...” is from The Break up lol My favorite line is when Vince Vaughn says “he did not kick my ass, there’s a big difference between that & a dancing, singing sprite fool you with trickery & then strike your throat before you even know what’s happening” 🤣

It’s funny because your rankings are almost completely opposite from mine, but I still love all of them as well. I think this franchise is so well rounded that it has aspects that appeal to all different preferences of what makes a good horror film. My ranking is 1,4,6,2,3,5, but I still adore every one of them. To be fair, I only watched 5 once because it broke my heart when they killed off my Dewdrop 😭. Like I legitimately cried like a baby and my 12 year old made fun of me 😂

Great video and ranking, just here to defend scream 4. It acts as a soft remake and it’s perfect in that aspect with all the switches and meta shit. Don’t like the reveal but having the “new Sidney” be a ghostface is a great idea, her motive and the streaming shit was ahead of the time. The look is annoying but it’s not pointless, it’s matching the grainy way all the 2000s remakes looked, although it definitely could’ve been more polished. There’s a lot of deleted scenes and an alternate opening that really would’ve elevated the movie but what’s there is still a lot to dig in too. Respect your opinion just wanted to say why I love it cus it gets a lot of hate ‼️🖤‼️

1. Scream, masterpiece, 10/10 2. Scream 2, perfect sequel, I have no problems with it, 9/10 3. Scream 3, over the years I've learnt to appreciete it a lot, and with all it's problems it feels coherent with 1 and 2 score/direction/montage/cinematography wise 4. depending on a day Scream 4 or Scream 5, I love them both but with both I have few issues. 5. Scream 6, it's a solid movie for sure, but it was my first Scream movie of which third act was bit underwhelming for me, which was very strange feeling. Now I've seen it 4 times, and I really love it, but overall it has the biggest amounts of issues that for now I am not able yet to fully ignore :)

1, 4, 2, 5, 6, 3 I see everyone putting 6 as their 2nd favorite so I’ll have to give it another viewing. I just thought the ghost face reveal and everything that followed was extremely corny. Also, during the opening scene when the fake-out Ghost Face was on the phone with our real Ghost Face I turned to my friend and said, “It’s a cop.” So the killer reveal was just a big downer for me all around. It was so obvious that the killer was a cop. There’s really no other way he could have had the resources to track down another ghost face unless he was a cop.
