It's been 10 years I'm fascinated with how you did the screen printing. And now, in 2021, I have my own kit to do the same even though the tools aren't complete as yours. I have only screen that I use again and again, the emulsion, rubber and the paint. The rest, I use kind of tools I got from kitchen 😂

1. You can try to use UV LAMP. Then you can expose your screen indoor and in the night. 2. That is adhesive spray. 3. That is squeegee. 4. We recommend using Speedball Ink. That is easy to handle for all of us. And it is water based. Easy to clean the screen after the printing.

In our experience no necessary to coat the emulsion in dark room. Just turn off the room light and do the job quickly. You can use UV lamp for exposure, the time is around 3 minutes.

You can use inkjet printer to print your design on tracing paper. You can buy tracing paper from your local stationery shop. That kind of paper is used for pencil sketch drawing.

If you are going to use water based colour inks, you should print on cotton t-shirts. We suggest using water based colours. They can dry on normal temperature. And easy to clean your screen after printing.

Yes you can apply photo emulsion in the lit room. But please turn off almost all the light. And after using the photo emulsion, please put it back in the dark place. For example put the bottle of the emulsion in a black plastic bag and then put inside the drawer.

You can coat the emulsion in dim light room actually. However you should do the job smooth and quickly.

If the exposure time is correct, the used the screen can keep washing and reusing. Be careful the dryer may be too hot. That may melt the screen mesh. But if you just want a quick drying, that is okay for using drier.

Some people will use pen to make a mark on the screen, so your film can put on the same position. Besides you can see through the screen actually, you can use your 2nd colour screen to find the correct position with the 1st colour you printed.

In the sunny day, the exposure time can be shorter. If your image film is black enough a little bit longer exposure time is more safety.

We put on the glass, then we will use four clamps to push down the glass. This is very important. So the image film can touch the screen very closely. When exposure the screen, the light cannot go inside the image areas.

Yes one color for one screen. So if you want to print multiple color design, you should repeat the screen making process to make more screens.

Acrylic fabric/silk screen inks. are water soluble until they have been dried and heated (ironed under a sheet of paper or exposed to a heat lamp etc).. High heat fixes the inks permanently, I have prints many years old that have barely faded after repeated washing.. It is very useful as mistakes can often be washed off, shirt dried, & design printed again.

When you expose the screen under the sun. You should be noted about the sun power (UV Ray) and the sun ray angle.

As someone who has his own screen printing company, let me let everyone know that drying the ink w/ a hair dryer will NOT cure the ink properly. The ink needs to heat up to at least 340 for 5 seconds to cure properly. What this video shows is a 'do it yourself' way of screen printing, but lest anyone thinks that the shirt will hold it's print anymore than 4-5 washes, you're wrong. Not trying to be a downer...just wanted to throw my knowledge in the mix for others!

I loved your video, it's very well explained. I just want to share something with you, I don't know why (maybe because of the materials that I use) but I only let the screen for 12 seconds on the sun and that's enough (I'm living in Durango, Méxco) and if I need to work by night I use a normal light (a lamp) 100 watts and let it for 4 mins and 30 seconds. sir another way by removing of stencil is putting or soaking into the bleach as an alternative instead by using of stencil remover .. and if has no sunlight you can use another light source like the halogen lamps or UV flourescent lamps to expose the stencil design

We did not sure you can use other materials to replace diazo. You have to try by yoursleves. The emulsion is specialized for screen exposure. We hope you can find the suppliers near your living areas.

You should use warm water to dissolve the diazo powder. And then mix with emulsion to become sensitive emulsion. Then you should use a scoop to put this mixed emulsion on the screen. The white powder that is stencil remover. You should use around 500 ML water to dissolve the powder. Then you can use this solution to remove the exposed frames.

When we are exposure the screen, we are using transparency film. The film is from output company. You cannot print from your home ink jet printer. If you are using tracing paper, you can use your home printer for printing your image, just like the video.

We are using HP laser printer and inkjet printer. They are okay in printing tracing paper. Sometimes the printer after using few years, the paper cannot fit in to the printer. The roller inside the printer are aged maybe.

We are using ultra violet light from sun for the exposure. But the ratio about the UV light are different everyday. So you should do some testing first. Your screen should face the sun ray angle upright.

That yellow adhesive glue which is special for screen stretching process. You can buy this product from us. Besides some people are using other glue such as shoe repair glue, but I am not sure about the result.
