The best race is the Ferrari/Supra race in the first movie. It's a spontaneous race that feels like a real street race, and the part when Brian goes into the wrong lane and swerves around the minivan feels like an actual dangerous thrill of speed. Plus it spawned one of the top phrases in the entire franchise: "More than you could afford Pal...Ferrari."

When Fast Five came out it shifted away from the racing format and turned into a heist film. At that time the franchise needed a refresh. I liked films 1 to 3 but after watching 4 I found it to be a drama fest and was really bored by it. When Fast Five came out it was fresh fun and new and it felt like the old style Fast and Furious films. But they went overboard with this format by doing 2 more films like Fast Five and then kept going. I didn’t mind 7 and I actually liked 8 but the 9th film you could tell this style was starting to become stale and Fast X showed its done they have no more juice. In my opinion 7 should have been the end. For god sake they went to freaking space it’s gotten to ridiculous now.
