One little caveat, Strange didn't even know what an Incursion was until after that meeting with Wanda. The incident with Spider-Man he didn't know was an Incursion. Nor did he think it would turn into that because he wasn't aware of the multiverse being let loose thanks to Sylvie.

I’ve thought Dr Strange has been set up for an evil arc since he grew the third eye. He really isn’t much different than his other variants, but they’ve tried to trick us into thinking he’s “the good one”. I think he’s going to attempt something to stop Kang’s multiversal war. But it will end up doing more harm than good, and lead him to oppose the rest of the new avenger team. He’s a tragic character doomed to let his ego and motivations blind him to the truth.

Notice how plastic Strange looks at the beginning with Spiderman. Now think, an outer planer gate was open filling the place with ice. In D&D bad things can come through a gate like Demons. Feels more like Fantasy Island | Roarke vs The Devil. He is tempting Peter and he helps in Wanda's downfall. I think this time it is Mephisto. Think about it, if Dr. Doom shows up the real bad guy is Mephisto. He is an arch demon that needs a constant supply of willing fresh soles. He would not have been a fan of Thanos. They love this misdirection shit. I bet if Mephisto shows up every where he is will be covered in ice. PS: This is how it played out in the KISS comic. 😆

That's not true at all, they clearly been setting it up since 2016. You MCU tourists just aren't used to how comic books work. I called it when y'all were pretending the first decade of MCU was the best thing ever when all the films were cookie cut action comedies, the few food movies at least. We comic book fans knew your fragile little minds wouldn't be able to handle real comic book stories. Post Endgame is way more connected thru story than first decade was. What's missing and what they have started to correct with The Marvels is the characters crossing over so they can establish relationships and at least knowledge of each other. Like with comic books you won't actually see how it all ties together until The Avengers movies(the live action version of Marvel comics big Events) it's how comics work to make us buy titles we otherwise have 0 interest in. So why wouldn't it be the same way for the live action version. You don't need to watch every movie, TV show or Special Presentation but just like with Star Wars it's much richer and deeper if you do. Honestly, this show's Dr. Strange never really learns his lesson that causes a lot of the mystic problems we see currently BUT we also see how the writers of these films are not on the same page. Wanda at the end of WandaVision and Wanda from Dr. Strange 2 are so jarringly different that there's no way the creative team on both productions were on the same page. Hopefully MCU reboots after Secret Wars and has a more cohesive vision. It feels like after Far From Home, Fiege didn't want to let go of MCU's popularity and just threw stuff at the wall until they knew where to go with the multiverse saga.

The change in her personality was probably corruption from using the Darkhold. Ideally, she was not meant to be the original villain of Multiverse of Madness (that was meant to be Nightmare), and that's why the shift in tone was so jarring. Interesting. Personally, a very concerning flaw I see with Strange (beyond the biggest that different writers keep having Strange regress to a narcassistic, reckless, intentionally oblivious despot who retains the power he gained in his movie but not the character growth) is his over reliance on his magic. Strange uses magic too much. Presumedly all magic has some sort of cost and that is a fundamental aspect known to all students. However, Strange seems to use it for every tiny little thing. Why walk across the street when you can teleport? Why build a sandwich when one can just appear? Why have a respectful relationship built on mutual trust and experiences when you can have someone submit to your magic instantly? This is like using a chainsaw to peel a banana. The idea of magic as a metaphor for addiction or corruption has been used before, has the idea of magic as a metaphor for money? Tony Stark was a literal billionaire whose biggest flaws included being overindulged and he only reached his greatest heroic nature when he took on a more simple life. Strange is a mystical billionaire.

It's not regression, it's standard Dr Strange, he really never learns his lesson. Much like my main man Batman he continually tries to solve Crisis level Events on his own and always makes it worse. This Dr Strange will obviously learn his lesson and let go of his ego by the end. That's the one thing about the movies that gives them an advantage, the comics must come out every month forever so almost no ending are definitive which means the characters don't really grow much, even when they like Spiderman growing up and having his own company the fans(except for me) got so angry that Marvel actually had to take Peters company away, though it was inevitable (decent people as fortune 500 CEOs isn't sustainable), and send him back to college. Spider-Man been in highschool and college for 60 years. The movies actually get to give the characters endings, so Strange will grow and overcome his arrogance once he is finally made to realize how wrong he is. Unfortunately for our heroes it takes a complete multiverse collapse

I see this in MCU as well when they talk about the destruction of the entire universe and they say it's a death of Billions instead of Trillions. I think the latter has only been used a handful of times.

Not gonna lie, MoM totally grew on me, I didn’t like it when I initially saw it in theaters but I rewatched it recently over a year later and I actually gotta say it’s fairly good. I think I was dissappointed originally bc they totally marketed the movie to look like something it didn’t even end up being

I don't believe America would have found her self-worth without the errors of each Strange that came before her confrontation with Wanda. cause and effect and what if scenarios. sure many causal situations can create the same outcome however America is 1 in a multiverse. that changes things. And since we're casting blame on characters why don't we blame Tony and Pym for the creation of time travel and the rebirth of the multiverse. Strange has his part here too but ultimately he changed probability to make this outcome happen. Strange Tony and Pym together created a timeloop paradox. the infinity war is truly infinite. Thanos is tampering with probable outcomes as a side effect of the timeheist. Thanos knows his destiny and always sees it to fruition by knowing future events. This is also why he atomized the stones to force the timeheist to happen.

A few things first America wouldn't have been able to get control over her powers if Strange didn't tell her how she really did have control and gave her the inspiration, second there is no indication that Strange knew what incursions were before Reed Richards told him, three minor timeline error but Multiverse of Madness apparently takes place before Hawkeye in the overall timeline which places it as actually November of 2024 after NWH since the official Disney+ timeline places it before. One more point is that I thought the Star-Lord hits Thanos moment was Sylvie killing HWR but who knows.

616 Strange has clearly proven that he was different from his known variants. He is inquisitive and a bit reckless but he definitely is not as greedy to power, overly self confident and does give away control over a situation if necessary. Plus, you said that Peter is just 17 years old and does know nothing about the multiverse but so do everyone else. Strange even said that they barely know anything in this matter.

Hey Ryan, I love your videos and theories, but I never heard anyone talk about the possibility that the dark spirit from the Dark Hold took over Wanda's body. I think it would make a lot of sense because she acts not as she used to before she got the Dark Hold and dream walking would cause the chaos needed for an evil sorcerer to regain his strength and take over the multiverse.

Wait a sec, remember the event at the end of No Way Home? Everyone's memory of Peter Parker and the event was wiped out, so that would mean that Strange did not have the memory about what happened, so he wouldn't be able to talk to Wanda about that, because he didn't know. Got to defence 1 case for Strange here 😁😁😁

Well, yeah, it also helps to explain that you don't feel like cheering after a Dr. Strange story. Its kind of heh. I suspect What If was a warning. I could actually see him actually working with Kang. Not in the fearful way Loki is, but actively working to help him, only to finally be truly betrayed by his own choices, especially if faced with a smarter more arrogant guy (Doom) and probably any of the witches from Agatha's show are more useful.
@JROtoons Жыл бұрын
I think 'Ant-man' Kang is similar to "pony-tail" Strange, he has the same motivations as every kang, but his weak execution becomes his downfall. He who remains is similar to '616' Strange because he'll stop at nothing, break rules and sacrifice entire universes to get what he wants. The others are just canon fodder to fill the multiverse. The "Thanos" level Kang we haven't even seen yet. But I suspect he'll be popping in at some point in Loki S2. We will learn to fear Kang soon, but hey... that' just my theory. A JRO theory (sorry)

Actually, Ryan, Doctor Strange was supposed to be in the finale episode of WandaVision but Kevin Feige omitted the idea since he wanted to avoid the "White guy savior" trope from that story. Plus, if Stephen was in WandaVision then the conflict in Multiverse Of Madness would've had made any sense since Scott Derrickson already left the project. And if anyone could've stopped Wanda from going down a dark path, it would've been White Vison.

Reminder that Strange saw all the futures in Infinity War, so he KNEW Peter would do what he did, but choose not to stop it. For better or worse, that’s on Strange as well. Makes me wonder if that time line stopped Thanos but ended with Strange’s own death, so didn’t count as a win.

11:06 Yes, it did seem weird that Strange never engaged with Wanda after the events of WANDAVISION. I know it was originally planned for Strange to be sending the "commercials" to Wanda, but that didn't make it into the final cut. If Agatha could sense such powerful magic, why couldn't Strange or Wong? He also calls Wanda a "powerful magic user" but I don't think anyone -- including Wanda herself -- believed she was using magic until the events of WANDAVISION.

This would make a lot of sense. They’ve spent so much time foreshadowing how he is going to end up destroying the universe. And he’s almost done it multiple times already in multiple movies. All the movies he has been in involve him messing with something he shouldn’t be. First movie was the book he wasn’t supposed to read, second movie he caused an incursion, no way home almost caused an incursion of sorts. I am sure there are more examples especially all his variants. His variants are all reckless in some way. Like I can see a Strange Council come around. What if Kang isn’t the villain he’s actually protecting the multiverse from strange. Yeah he’s gotta stop the Kang War, but that’s obviously not the only thing Kang has to worry about. He makes a perfect time line meaning he would have to worry about the strange after. So Kang destroys the world.

What about Wongs part in this? Wong is the current Sorcerer Supreme. So yes, Strange should have reached out and connected with Wanda after everything but it seems Steven didn't really think of anyone outside of his selfish egotistical self until he met America. He probably didn't see his part in Vision death, also...."It was the only way", he saw all the possibilities that the one that happened was meant to happen, his justification that he did everything right. Where as Wong (who I am not blaming for things) was Sorcerer Supreme for 5 years before they all came back. We never see him in Endgame til the final fight. In Thor Ragnarok Steven mentions he felt the brothers on Earth. Maybe Wong is in over his head. At this point in the MCU things are Neverending magic wise. Steven Strange is very wrong in many ways but I think pretty much every man hero has done something that put them on the path of destruction they are currently on.

I'm always baffled of how much of a slack Wanda gets from people... She slavened a whole city to live a fantasy with Vision and some imaginary children, and is all ok? I love Wanda as much as everyone else, but she was already pretty villanous in WandaVision... She derailed completely after she started to read the Darkhold, ok, but she was already knocking at that door in her own show.

I don’t agree, I don’t think (Doctor Strange) is the real villain. But I have to admit, I have noticed he is a bit reckless, has a stubborn side, has a tiny bit of an ego, and some times he’s a bit prideful.

I don't think this would work as a way of bringing Kang into the timeline of 616. I think it's gonna be through Loki and the TVA. Plus I think it needs to be done in a way that leads to Secret Wars and the Battleworld.
@hk8414 Жыл бұрын
Not sure if this is mentioned already, but is this not also due to him being one of the best surgeons? He has a deep need to fix things, and also the ego to know that he will be able to fix the most difficult problems (like the patient in the first movie that Christine came up with). So he doesn't care about consequences, because he KNOWS he will be able to fix it anyways. And he also maybe subconsiously want to have even bigger problems to fix to satisfy that hunger for fixing problems. It's a reward for him instead of a punishment. In the first movie he was also picking his next patient and pretty carelessly set aside the ones that were not difficult enough for him. Those difficult consequences he causes with his careless actions, actually excites him. Untill something bad happens that he actually cares about, like Christine dying because of him. Or Wong (but we don't want to loose Wong cause he's cool).
