As for the whole “Is Mother Gothel” witch question, in the original Grimm story she is. Also the prince in the Grimm story doesn’t gouge his own eyes out on purpose. He lands on some thorns and that gouges out his eyes.

at the end of the film euguene said that it took years of asking and asking to marry rapunzel. There is a tv series on Disney channel called Tangled the series and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. Alan Menken and Glen slater do the music and songs during the specials and there are three seasons and it's amazing! It's in 2D and there are new characters and more story and character development as well. I love Tangled it's my favorite Disney movie and my favorite tv show. The Princess and the Frog is very underrated.

YES! Also, the table wide shot has a power cord in the upper right corner, and it looks like you can see part of a clothes pin and perhaps a piece of diffusion on the center light over the table. Love this and all the Screen Junkie shows, but I do production work, and the wide shot has looked like that for the last 5 or 6 shows and it bothers me.

Repunzel and Flynn/Eugene weren’t a 90 day fiancé. It says so in the epilogue that they waited years. In the tv show he is constantly asking her to marry him while she’s Princess and she always says no or something happens in the Kingdom preventing it.

i've read it was the thorns at the bottom that blinded him not that he gouged out his own eyes. the only character i've heard of that does that is oedipus.

lpatterson787 That too. I never heard the prince gouged his own eyes out. He was tricked by the witch to come up the tower, then she pushed him out the window, his eyes were scratched by thorns that were on the ground, Rapunzel found him later and her tears healed his eyes and he could see again. I often wondered if this part of the Rapunzel story influenced the ending of Jane Eyre where Rochester was blinded but then he could see again when he and Jane had their child. Not exactly the same, but there are similarities.

No...Tangled is a better story with the better soundtrack, but Frozen has this one hit song and was lucky enough to be the one decent movie which got a wide release in the US in the year it was released (There is also The Wind Rises, but that was released after Frozen and wasn't really available worldwide on a big scale before the year after)

@Hudaef Cares? The Songs in Frozen sound like they belong into three different soundtracks and Fixer Upper is just good-awful. Tangled might not have a "Let it go", but its soundtrack is smooth and NEVER undercuts the story the was the ones from Frozen do.

Pascal didn't kill Gothel. Gothel turned into dust - which is what she would have been if the Flower didn't exist (which is quite genius of the writers, actually). Presumably, Disney didn't want a human being disintegrate into dust in front of children's eyes so they had Pascal trip Gothel out the window. For proof, if you watch the clip where Gothel's cape hits the ground, you can see dust flying out. That dust, my friends, are the remains of Gothel. So, in reality, Flynn unknowingly - I assume - killed Gothel.

It's a shame the crew missed seeing the film in theaters. It's rare that I have a fond memory of a 3D effect, but Tangled had a nice moment where the lanterns seemed to be slowly floating OVER the audience.

It's almost like Tangled represents a responsible adult relationship where 2 people fall in love, but continue to learn more about each other before making hard commitments 😐.

Rapunzel is the best Disney Princess. She is strong and independent because she spent over a decade doing nothing but practicing a variety of skills. Whether or not Gothel told her about birthdays; Rapunzel charted the stars and created a calendar to figure out that the "floating lights" show up on the same day every year. Since Rapunzel's hair has the same power as the flower (and potentially more since she brought Eugene back to life with her tears) there's nothing to stop her from sharing that power with the world. Also, the world didn't even have access to the flower because Gothel already hoarded the power for herself. Also, I get the joking, but gaslighting is never okay regardless of intention.

Everyone below already mentioned the wedding thing so I want to address the Arendelle / Rapunzel's Kingdom (Corona) thing. Arendelle is clearly Scandinavian - likely Norse - and Corona is probably Danish or Northern German. There's a theory that Elsa and Anna's mother and father died on a voyage to Corona - to visit Rapunzel's parents.

Rupunzel Truther! At last I've found the light. The truth if the abuse of the flower must be spread! I love you guys but I've been critical of your Disney movie HT's, especially Moana. You are entirely redeemed! The corpse in the closet gag had me laugh out loud and not in the joker way. I think maybe Spencer as a Dad had maybe influenced him a bit, because I've watched this like 30 times during my kids life. When I was playing something for my toddler, it might as well be something I can watch as well. There's no cringe moments for me, the songs are great background songs that don't drive me crazy, great story, great pacing, just delightful. Missed gag btw... GOT red witch / mother gothel comparison... And now everyone is imagining Gothel naked. You're welcome.

I know no one is reading this, but a note for prosperity, you guys nailed the song thing. Disneyland's magical map live show premiered about 6 years ago, there's a princess medley where it ends with Rapunzel, Pocahontas, and Mulan all singing their own songs over each other at the same time. Unfortunately that's as lost as Roy Batty's experiences because no one was allowed to record.
