I did miss the emails but the whole ending is just absolutely ridiculous!! Here's a child that came looking for his father confused about his own darkness and the one person that understands what he's going through he turns around and kills?? Nah it makes no sense whatsoever but this was just about them rushing through because really there was so many things that were left unsaid that I not sure why they bother to reboot this I think this ending is way worse than the ending of the original series

I liked most of the season a lot. And I like what they tried to do with the ending. But I feel they made some missteps. The main one for me is, Dexter and Angel should have met, with Angel interrogating Dexter. This would've given Dexter enough motive to kill an innocent man. They didn't quite earn that moment for me

Agreed. But they also wanted to remind people that at the end of the day Dexter is mentally ill. There's no psychopathy that is normal, especially one that justifies killing. If even one of the people Dexter has killed does not deserve anything more than a life sentence than he's overdone it. And he got a few innocent killed. It doesn't make him an evil person but it also doesn't mean he should walk free. He's ill and his son isn't.

@@yungtooli uhm, he went to apologise to them cuz he felt guilty? He has some mental damage but isn't a full blown psychopath. Dexter was consumed by his dark passenger. Only difference between Dexter and his serial killer victims is that he did it by his code so it didn't kill innocent. But he ultimately did it for the joy of killing and not for stopping monsters. He almost didn't care about that. The code is such only due to his father making it so and for Dexter it's only a challenge that makes it feel better when he finally gets to do it. He was sick and fed his sickness.

He finally did right in a way by letting his kid go. Tried ending his life as he knew he wouldn't change. Even allowing him to survive might of been a bad idea but to show him isolated and alone as punishment for all he has done was actually rewarding. The character we loved so much was still alive. But he was finally paying for his sins. Which made me feel sorry for him. As we should feel. Its not Dexter's fault he was like this and he tried to be good in his own way.

The ending was supposed to honor the series, the character, and conclude all loose ends. That is not what we got. Unless there will be more Dexter it shouldn't have ended like that. I was a Dexter Super Hero Fan not kill off the Super Hero. What they did was kill off the main character and made him into a crazy wierdo. I would of liked it better if his son lost his way because his father wasn't in his life to teach him and Harrison started killing for sport and didn't have a code. He tried teaching him the code but it was too late. Harry taught Dexter the code when he was much younger. Harrison is much older. Which again Harrison should be 12 here which is perfect to start teaching him to kill correctly. Probably the show didn't like the idea that the cancel culture would get angry about that part.

Episode 1-9 and and even ep 10 up until the last five minutes were great in my opinion. I don't even necessarily disagree with what happened in the final, but they should have given it another episode to lead up to it, maybe even two. That's my only gripe with this. The directing, the cinematography and the acting was superb and for the majority of this mini-series I got the same good Dexter-vibes the first four seasons of the original show gave me.

First 9 episodes were amazing. I think the very ending was fitting, but didn't work for a number of reasons. Aside from Dexter, all of the characters were new. 99.999% of the audience cared more about Dexter than the other characters in the show; the remainder being friends and family members of the rest of the cast. They didn't do nearly enough in 9 episodes to make us care about any of them as much as, or more than, Dexter. Another full season could have done more to accomplish this. There could have been more character building, and they could have tied up some of the loose ends and paid off some of the seeds they planted (Batista/Dexter reunion, the billionaire, etc). Also, nothing in the show's first 8 seasons, or in this reboot, suggested that Dexter would ever do what he did to Logan. Despite the #1 rule of being "don't get caught", they still truly had nothing on him. Seriously, a screw? That was ridiculous. Also, when Dexter got it, why even keep it anyway. Toss it in the lake or something. The Dexter Morgan we've been shown for 9 seasons wouldn't do that. Instead, he likely would have told Batista the same thing he told Angela, that he needed to get away, get a fresh start, after losing Deb and everything. What they did, was essentially made Dexter's addiction to blood the same as alcoholism. After almost a decade of sober, clean living, he fell off the wagon, and it ruined his life. I'm even okay with the small-town sheriff bringing him down, considering after 10 years away, he would be sloppy. But, because of a titanium screw, that proves absolutely nothing? C'mon now. The audience deserved better than that.

In the OG episode 1 there’s an amazing image of a full moon as Dex is introduced and talks about “tonight’s the night”. In New Blood he stares at a full moon through a barred window from his cell at Iron Lake right before the non-intended kill of Logan when asking for a glass of water.

About harrison's age: timelines in movies and shows are usually not accurate. Pregnancy lasts 3 episodes and not 9 months. So even though he was born when the season aired in 2009, he was 5 years old on season 8, and Dexter new blood takes place "10 years later" so he is technically 15 or 16.

I loved the original Dexter and original finale. I also loved first 9 ep of New Blood but was so disappointed with the finale ! Dexter didn't deserve to die,not by the hands of angry son,ffs! Dexter is way smarter than a small town cop and a confused,rude teenager who should be at least grateful for Dexter's sacrifice when he left him and made the most difficult decision a parent can make , so he can have a chance for normal life. Harrison is obviously deeply damaged and he kills the only person that could understand and help him!? Makes no sense... English is my 3rd language so sorry for my eventual grammar mistakes. Terrible ending. When Harrison realised just how much Dexter likes killing, however justified he felt, when he killed the police officer, Harrison should have killed Dex, done the same routine Dex does to dispose of the body, turned away from his "dark passenger' and lived happily in a place he finally felt like home. I know they want a spin off, but Harrison, for me, doesn't have what it takes to lead a show.

He pretended for the whole first season to be in a happy marriage when he wasn’t so it’s safe to assume he could be married but not happy. It doesn’t logically make sense for him to tell her that because of embarrassment about flirting if his assumption was that she was calling him possibly interested. Why would you tell a woman that you’re interested in who shot you down you’re married if she calls you and you think she may now be interested? There wasn't anything conclusive about it it left people wildly wanting to understand more and they obviously rushed through the script to get to the end. The writing was not as good the scenery was just dismal and depressing. At least in Miami with all the colors and life to the place you could balance that with Dexter's murderous existence, in The bleak dark cold it just made it depressing as well as, his son being a sociopath and the end was absolutely ridiculous completely implausible and yeah what happened to angel?? There was a thread hanging that nobody seemed to snag. I don't even know why they bother with this reboot

You don;t need to serve the entire visual script, just imagine what it was when he got ther in the morning. This is not a show for kids that need every bit of final explanation. This ending felt a bit rushed, but also it did give conclusive ending. Dexter was not what he was 8 years ago. You could feel it from the writing as well as his mindset. He made a mistake of killing an innocent man. The ending was justified.

The last episode could’ve been better… think Batista and Dexter should’ve had a conversation or a final confrontation…Dexter is too methodical and calculating so idk why they made him kill an innocent man…his son turning him in would’ve been good enough. That way he would’ve ended the cycle of murder in his bloodline and brought justice. Also…they could’ve gone meta with Dexter publishing his story as a series of books from prison or an asylum.

Like the photographer Farrow although it was his assistant who was the killer, Stan Liddy, Camilla even though she asked him to, the jerk in the boat gas station, the p*do that photographed Aster, Oscar Prado, the drug dealers about to kill Doakes who weren’t verified as murderers, Norm who worked at that motel in Nebraska, the immigrant smuggler who robbed everyone on the boat, Hannah Mckay’s dad, Isaak’s hitman who wasn’t verified to have killed before, Deb’s druggie bf Andrew, and he unplugged Deb… not that those people weren’t entirely innocent! Dexter being at a lumber yard made complete sense. He was punishing himself. He felt his dark passenger ruined the life of everyone he loved. Being around lumber and chainsaws was a constant reminder of why he is in the hell he’s in. Cold, stuck like tree in the ground, having been uprooted, the sound of chainsaw taking him back to what made, why he shouldn’t act on what made him, and self made torment. It was a well thought out and beautiful ending.

She resemble her, yes, but the big difference is that, unlike debra whos whole persona and at the same time, its tragedy, stems from her never ending need to prove herself to the toxic men in her life and to be worthy of their love, angela is a self aware feminist figure whos persona stems from her own beliefs and stances. She is a much more mature and complete character. And it makes total sense that she is the one to bring dexter down. But it also makes sense that dexter would see her as similar to deb, since he himself has no his own beliefs and stances so cant tell the difference.

New Blood was a disappointment. It felt rushed, and there were some elements that needed time to develop. Unless they were just thrown in to mess with you. Like Angel, Ethan, and the billionaire guy they made seem important. Even Matt's tweaker friend. How did he have no other appearances after Matt disappears? It felt like there were a bunch of scenes that could have gotten cut, but I doubt they were even filmed to begin with. My biggest complaint is Angela. We are supposed to believe that Dex, who is hyped up as the most notorious serial killer in history, creates a new identity for himself and relocates far away from his original stomping grounds. And then he hooks up with a chief of police somewhere? At first I thought it merely was one of his ploys so he could stay one step ahead of law enforcement or something, but it wasn't even that. It was a real relationship and it directly led to his downfall. Without that plot element the whole story never happens. I think it was way too convenient and a cheap way to sell the series.

For me, the true Dexter ending was season 1-8 with the ending as season 8, episode 11 with the last 5 minutes removed. Dexter finally overcame his dark passenger with love and didn’t have to hide his true self from anyone close to him ever again. He walks away from a justified kill so his sister can take the glory as she begins anew back on the force. He runs from the kill to his family to escape his past life and begin a new one. That ending has closure and happiness. Then they were free to open up subsequent seasons if they wanted to on how the happily married killer family navigates their son’s growing dark passenger as he gets older. That would have been a much better and more interesting series imo. Dexter being tempted to kill again to protect his son who is learning he likes to kill and the path they take to try and rectify it.

In the first few episodes of new blood there was daydream moments. I just hope when he was looking at the moon that anything after that was a daydream. As a big fan of dexter. That ending to new blood was horrible. I was so happy to see a new season and every episode besides the last was such a relief to see this character deal with his passed with such strength. Then to see him give up that easy. To be completely honest....dexter ended at season 8. I'd rather believe he went on believing he was helping the world in a good way but not good. Sometimes an original ending is better like return of the jedi and leave it there.
