EKS511 Glad someone wrote this. It's true that money became less of a concern for the Friends gang after the first few seasons, but it was never cartoonish like in Family Guy, the Simpsons and so on. They almost never went on vacation, the Porsche was a gift and the biggest expense in the series was Monica and Chandler's wedding, which was pretty reasonable considering he had held a well-paying job for several years, with a big raise in season 1. And all the other characters had a job or were looking for one, their careers actually being an important part of the show.

Okay so you’ve clearly never watch How I Met your mother or you’d know that all of their jobs are very clearly established. Ted is an architect. This is something they talk about in many different episodes and he designs a skyscraper which is a huge part of the later seasons. Lilly was a kindergarten teacher for a long while until she quit to peruse her dream as an artist and worked for the Captain as his advisor. Marshall was a student in the beginning seasons before becoming a lawyer and eventually a judge in the end. Robin had a steady job as a news anchor the whole time and it really took off in the last season. Barney’s job was never fully established until the final season of the show. Before then when asked he would always reply with “Please.” Until he eventually he explained it as him basically being his companies fall guy. After a complicated plan where he turns his company in to the cops, he then is shown to run a lifestyle blog.

On the episode where Brian humped Putersmiths dog on that race track, Brian said Megs real father's name when Peter was testifying for him. But here is my theory, if family guy is in anyone's head, I bet it's Peters for when series ends he will wake up and show us the real peter griffin who is just a humble man who dreams about the past since lois left him, Chris and meg moved away and he lives off stewies famous money earnings. Brian, Quagmire and Joe are gone and to remember them, Peter drives quagmire car and keeps Joe's wheel chair in a corner where he does personal thinking while for brian, Peter reads the only book Brian wrote that made him famous before he died which is basically his life with the griffins. Cleveland comes over every so often go visit Peter since he took the loss of lois very hard. This last episode is where Peter gets a phone call from stewie who tells him that lois is gone. The end of the episode shows peter, chris, meg and stewie standing at lois's grave revealing that Chris is happily married as a accountant, meg married a nfl player and stewie is in charge of a corporation that owns 57% of quahog for his dream was owning the world but the world he grew up in. When the name "griffin" is mentioned there is first the chaotic thought but then the soothing reality that Peter Griffin no matter good or bad thoughts was no more then a Family Guy. :)

One example of this and probably the most recognizable is when he buys a farm and tells the owner "did nobody call ahead? Usually someone from Fox calls and then I just do whatever." Dear theorists: ITS A CARTOON, it does not need to make sense. Brian can’t write and they don’t need an income to afford a helicopter. It DOES NOT need to be realistic
