Another classic from the world of Dotto! Not just “feature” but “advantages” then “benefits” to hosts and participants. What Steve does supremely well Is create a warm enabling engaging atmosphere which is so hard to do in a virtual space. I have learnt so much from him over the years in different apps eg Screenflow. Thanks Steve!

I've been using Zoom and hosting meetings for the past five years. When sharing your screen, you should ***NOT*** click on "Optimize Screen Share for Video Clip." You get bad results if you do. I've spoken with people at ZOOM and they are aware of the issues. Bandwidth and device issues create unnecessary problems with that selection. When hosts and/or participants clicked on that feature, we saw pixelation and floating toolbars.. When the person sharing his/her screen turned that option off, the problems disappeared and we got terrific results.

Steve, you've done it again...EXCELLENT! If you're hosting from something other than a Mac, you can still share your iPad screen, but as a different user that you make a co-host. It took a little searching on my part to find the way to get "Share Screen" to show up on the iPad, but once you do it, it works fine. Ok, it's a bit of a kludge compared with what you showed, but it works and works well.

I have been trying to figure out how to share a teaching video on zoom. I struggled with trying to do a demo live using my iphone attached to an arm about my drawing surface. The out put lagged tremendously on Zoom. First your suggestion to connect my ipad, or perhaps my phone using a cable made sense. I even downloaded Reflector and was advised using OBS as another option. I just bought a webcam, tripod, mic, etc. Your video gave me more hope. Now I see how I can share my screen. Thank you for your clear explanations and your personal video was great!

Hi, Steve. Thanks for your Zoom tutorials, which I have found very useful. as I now need to use this kind of technology for the first time. It's great you have considered that you have some viewers who are at beginner level (including me) who appreciate tips so basic that other instructors may not think of mentioning them. For example, I have felt inconvenienced that my Share Screen buttons were stuck at the top of the screen. Your tip that those buttons could be easily moved to the bottom is helpful to me. In the many other tutorials I've seen, no other instructor has thought to mention this. Thank you!

Can you teach us how to share things, but only a portion of the screen, like a newscaster, who has half the screen for them ( live, like zoom, etc) while the other half of screen is the doc, PowerPoint, etc??, kind of how we saw YOU in the 'circle' to the right', but saw your computer screen? The reason why is because I want to share things but I want them to still feel like I am always there with them and perhaps I could look to the side, the way that a weather man does, lol!

Hello, there. Great video. One of the shortcomings of the Zoom whiteboard is adding images, PDFs and worksheets and annotating ( writing over them ). Playstore has this app called LiveClass ( @t ) You add all your images, PDFs etc into the lesson and just present it as a screenshare over Zoom or any live conferencing system. You can even save the lesson for broadcast at a later time. I would love for you to do a video on it.

Our Mac User Group was having trouble sharing Keynote presentations reliably from a Mac, either the shared content isn't visible or won't advance from slide to slide. Some members have been able to get it working in Keynote preferences but not the fellow doing the presentation. Our solution is to attach an iPad to a Mac via USB & selecting that via Zoom screen sharing, playing the Keynote on the iPad. The presenter couldn't get his iPad Pro visible with this process but another could do it with a 5th gen plain iPad. So it's proposed the presenter (also the meeting host) allows this other user to share his iPad via screen sharing & move forward or backward through the presentation via verbal commands.

I’m a teacher and I have made some games with TriviaMaker. I am trying to share the game but when I share screen all I see on my iPad is the game. I can’t choose students to answer the questions because I can’t see them putting their hands up. I’ve been looking everywhere for a video on how to do this. I’ve been to the TriviaMaker website but they only show how to do it with computers not an iPad Pro. Any suggestions? By the way I love what you’ve been doing… So clear and easy to understand

Thank you so much. I did reach out to them and I’m just waiting to hear back. Everything that was shown on the video that you suggested I had already seen and they’re using a computer not an iPad so it’s not iOS.

As a speech pathologist, I am looking for a way to share my screen with a child so that he can see my screen and also see me (and not in a very small thumbnail). Is that possible? If so, what are the steps to set that up? Thanks!
