The video represents my understanding and my view points of JIS and the different standards. The whole discussion is about standards for screwdriver tips and bit tips. Screws have their own standards, JIS standard for cross shaped screws are JIS B1012. References: - Main article I took a lot of material from smallworkshop.co.uk/2022/10/01/japanese-screws-and-fasteners/#screw-head-diameters - Statement of the removed Vessel statement saying JIS B4633 was extinct. This statement is mentioned many times on different sites www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/are-vessel-philips-screwdrivers-jis.494535/ - Vessel USA file on JIS clarification. I could not find a date for this file. However, a year mentioned within the article puts this file not older than June 2020. JCIS stands for Japanese Camera Industry Standard. ISO9001 standard mentioned in the file is a quality standard. This is not related to the standard for the screwdrivers or bits, which is essentially the shape/design of the tip. drive.google.com/file/d/1nk1yuKzl_TxPKDpNLeB6EO_I_XLYPh1e/view?usp=sharing - History of Phillips and differences daitool.com/blogs/news/phillips-head-vs-jis-screwdriver-japanese-industrial-standard-screwdrivers#:~:text=First%2C%20JIS%20screwdrivers%20have%20sharper,flatter%20angle%20on%20the%20tip. - Picture of Phillips and JIS screwdrivers side by side wrenchandspanner.wordpress.com/2014/12/17/jis-vs-phillips/ The example I showed at the start 00:51, of the screwdriver slipping out, that screw is a pozidriv screw. This is similar to a Phillips screw but has extra slits in the cross section. Pozidriv screwdrivers exist and this is meant to grip the screw better, better torque - like JIS screws with JIS screwdrivers.

Very well explained. I had the same problem with my MAP sensor, the screw wouldn't loosen. In the end, I had to use an impact driver to get it out.

Thanks. I hadnt realized I needed a tool (impact driver) until I had to take off rotor screws. Looking forward to testing it out soon.

Man! The amount of work you put in is commendable! Outstanding depth of research. However, also guide on solution in case of a bad head on screw. And best brand of a screw set recommendation here in Lahore?

With a damaged screw head you can use an impact driver. Ill have that video out next. However if the screw head is rounded, no grip, then you would have to drill it out or use some extractor tool. But its best to prevent screw head damage to begin with by getting the right screwdriver set. And now that I have experienced Vessel bits, I will be buying their screwdrivers too (given that they work great with JIS screws too). Cant get them in Lahore though, so has to be imported. But tools are an investment so might as well get something that will serve you well.
