I put a 3ft length of 3/4 copper pipe on to the operating leaver, it holds up when up and stays down while using the machine freeing up your left hand safely holding any odd shaped logs from sliding upwards.

I split the load i did in the video again as my ecodesign woodburner only likes small logs. All working perfectly still. No regrets, just be careful with logs pinging off. I got hit hard in the knee and had trouble walking for a day. Its very heavy so when you collect from screwfix get close to the warehouse entrance as possible.

You need a short (10mm) bolt-on/rivetted spike in the middle of the pusher plate dome that will stop your uneven logs form sliding out sideways.

Suggest that the slant angle is put against the splitting wedge & keep the other end parallel, flat against the pusher. Experience, you learn to " read " the log. Occasional surprise !

I used it for few hours and now suddenly the cylinder wont move anymore. I am pressing the lever and the button but nothing . May I ask If You know any possible way to fix this?
@fiveminuteman3 ай бұрын
Hi, did you open up the butterfly screw to allow air in and out on the splitter? If the cylinder is seized solid take it back to where you purchased it or try warranty. These things dont really go wrong from new so unless its a previously abused machine it should be fine.

What sort of hydraulic oil do you need, and does the bleed screw need to be loosened a few turns before using?
@fiveminuteman2 жыл бұрын
No idea on the hydraulic fluid as you dont need to touch that. On the bleed screw that needs to be loosened when operating and tightened up afterwards👍
@PainterD545 ай бұрын
Two things you should do before splitting wood is to sharpen the point on the wedge (they painted and dull) You need to cut into the wood before it will start to split. And I suggest welding some kind of points or grips on the ram to keep the wood from slipping off as it splits and hitting you in the face. Unless the wood is completely square to the wedge, it can fly off the ram when it's so smooth like that.
@fiveminuteman5 ай бұрын
Splitting axes are typically blunt and sharpening it would make the split harder on thr ram. Wouldnt recommend welding as screwfix would probably wet themselves if you had to return it🤣
@PainterD545 ай бұрын
@@fiveminuteman Who in their right mind would return something after they modified it? WTF? Any kind of splitting tools should be sharp on the cutting end to CUT int the wood, then separate it. That is why the wedge is shaped like that. Sharp is key.

@@PainterD54 you're wrong, modifying is not only dangerous but could end injuring yourself badly. Just don't do it.

This is a straight forward build, check you are full with hydraulic oil, don't expect it to be full and always tighten back up the air screw when not in use.
