Hello, today is the restoration of the Persian fantasy sword. This item was given to me for restoration and renovation. In my opinion, this is a product of the 20th century. The shape is interesting, the condition is average, a lot of rust. The blade of the blade is badly damaged, probably someone hit a steel object with it. I'm starting to recover.
Using a spatula, I cleaned the surface of the from rust and placed the blade in a rust remover. After cleaning, I placed the blade in soda water to neutralize the acid effect.
The surface was first cleaned with an iron brush, and then lightly sanded. I made a guard out of a piece of brass door handle. The handle is made of dry beech wood. For balance, a piece of brass was added to the end of the handle.
Based on the fact that the item is intended for familiarization activities, the sword was not sharpened.
After processing the final handle, I made a case, no need, of thick leather and stitched with a thick rope.
Please don't forget to share this video.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

2 pieces of advice, unsolicited as they might be. Never square the shoulders of the tang, leave them rounded, it induces unnecessary weak points and the hilt will be seated better if you hammer it in with slightly rounded shoulders. Second, never make a round handle, this makes indexing the blade more difficult and the blade tends to twist in the hand while cutting when the handle is round. I might put my next project on KZbin just because of you, I enjoy your videos, thx.

I always learn something watching these videos. Hand engraving may be “primitive” compared to using power tools, but that’s how it was done for probably millennia, and the fine control is actually probably greater than with a power tool. Watching his hands closely shows how each tiny cut is made, and makes me think that I could do it too!

@@markfergerson2145 doesn't it have more of a special quality too when someone takes the time and does it using their skill and artistic ability. Also, it is more fun to watch.

I'm happy you found another exotic blade to work on. It looks like many of the fantasy scimitars you find here in the USA. I would love to see you take the shards of Narsil and reforge them into the Anduril sword, from The Lord Of The Rings movie. 😁 ✨️🗡✨️👍

Not bad work I personally would have left some material for the handle from the material you cut from the handle and make it slightly longer the handle for extra balance. The blade is okay in my opinion and the handle material is a good pick also. I like especially the gravings on the pummel and on the cross. Also the sword case is nice but it is now a simplisctic one but beyond that I like it and nicely done. The sword itselfs is a very nice piece of one and I like the styles. Maybe for the next project you could try to restore a hungarian hussar sabre or and older saber from the 800-900's. Also if you like the idea you could try to make a nice backpack with medieval style. I know these are tons of work and requires time but would be nice to see another extras. Wish you a lot of good!

Alex. You did great on this sword but I have a question. Teresa and I discussed whether you did a double stitch on the covering or did you skip and do every second hole first, then you went back and did the others? I know zero about leather working so, yeah, I had to ask! Saty safe and healthy and hello to your family my friend! Bob and Teresa

Given the damage to the blade, either poor steel, or poor tempering. I agree, almost certainly reproduction, and not a great one. No point in sharpening, given the metal issues. Pity, you can only do so much there. Strong work.
