This is indeed quite a presentation. I try to compare it with the original recordings. I found (and bought) a cd with the original "pressings" on ceramic (!) dated 1911 with an amazing sound quality. When I left to another country this cd got lost (of course...) and despite my efforts I never found it in music stores, online. But it is still in my head so I can compare. Sometimes I wonder if I bought this cd in another time-line... This music can enhance the dreamy effect of this idea. Thank you !

This is a brilliant cd ..not the best but close . Scriabin is given a real barb burner pounding of the ole keyboard by this master . The maniac he was !
Alexeev plays the whole Études very well, but have to recommend the Magaloff recording. It's difficult to say which interpretation I prefer. But tend to hear them the more often played by Magaloff. Because I prefer to hear all the Études one after the other. And Alexeev, in his cd, did otherwise. He has them with some Préludes and Poèmes, in between an Études opus and the other. Anyway, both Magaloff and Alexeev recordings are excellent ones. For me the Études, with the Mazurkas and his Fantasy Opus 28 rank among the best Scriabin composed. 🎶💎👍❤️

@@cynic150 Excuses for correcting you about it. But yes, there's a difference. A piano sound is more powerful than a fortepiano, which is a more primitive instrument, that appeared before the piano. The sound is the difference. The tone pitch you can get with both instruments is a clearly different one. Anyone liking fortepianos and having heard them enough, will inmediately notice the difference. Besides, there was no reason to play Scriabin on a fortepiano. Scriabin belongs to the XXth Century, the piano as we know it, already existed.

Scriabin hasn't been under rated for decades. If anything it's over played. I agree Scriabin was transformative as a composer of piano composition, and was reflective of the times as was his comrade Rachmaninoff. But unlike Sergei, Scriabin never was able to escape the boundaries of the piano.
