It's 2021, I'm 22, I've been pumping this song for over 10 years, and I'm getting near the age where I can truly relate to the words “im 23 I just wanna be me, wanna be free, wanna be everything I can be” absolutely surreal how the same lyrics can transcend as the years go by. I've given up the drugs and alcohol, and I've listened to the person that believed in me, even when I didn't. I'm at the point where I am hesitant to take the path that feels true to myself, and the safe option. The safe option offers benefits, certainty & job security. But my DREAM. Is something that I was never naturally good at, which is writing down lyrics and sharing my truth. It's something I am improving on, but I keep holding onto the safety. Out of fear of putting myself out there, and fear of the response of what I have to say. What I have to say and who I am are two different things. I don't project a lot of what I think out of fear how others may receive me. But that should not concern me, I should speak my truth no matter what, and who I lose on the way is NOT MY PROBLEM, in order to feel heard, people must disagree with what you have to say, otherwise you are never challenging their own beliefs. To all who are reading this. Find solace in Scribes words. It is true “when you're shining people hate to see the gleam” but those words can be interpreted in two ways: never shine out of fear, or shine so bright that your energy blinds their lies and their doubt, and at that point they have no reason but to respect you.
