A totally brilliant 'a b c' encapsulation of how to write a Protagonist. Thank so very much.

I was wondering, if the main character starts the story as selfish and cowardly but gradually becomes selfless and brave, does that make them an interesting or a bad protagonsit? Or just bad at the beginning?

@@lbeast2855 maybe twist it a bit. So they desperately want to be braver but realise it isn't about that or something I don't know I'm just spitballing

daft banna well I recently changed my main character so he’s *too* selfless for his own good at the beginning and thinks he can do everything by himself, but then gradually understands teamwork is more important than anything else and that a) he can’t always save everybody, and b) it’s not always worth it to put his life in danger to save others’... I think it’s better than the previous version but what do you think?

@@lbeast2855 somehow it sounds like the batman movie, where he doesn't wanna kill anyone but yaa,I don't mind what character flaws the character has,it's more important why us it there in first place,I mean why is your MC so selfless? Why does he not care about it's own life/career? Why does he always wants others to be happy ? Why us it important for him to learn to be a bit selfish? What did he lost that he felt the need to change? I mean...these questions are more important

Thats all good but you in turn must learn to keep the viewers focused on one thing rather than make us pause the video to get all the information that might be usefull...

It's especially worse because the text doesn't match his word. It's like watching two different videos at the same time.

Very good explanation. But I have to say the text on the left is so distracting since it doesn't match what your saying at all. So I had to watch the video 2 times focusing once on your presentation and then once again on the text.

Great advice. I don’t know about using a comic book hero as an example, though. I think of being a kid. Are these movies written for kids? I was disturbed, thinking Batman was not originally imbued with these complexities. I’m an adult, I prefer complexities. When I was a kid, I wanted a hero that was pure of heart.

Wtf? Batman isn't fueled by a desire of revenge! He acts like this because he doesn't want anyone else to go through what he went through

I guess there probably are versions of Batman that is out for revenge but i would have described his selfishness differently. He's a vigilante who doesn't have faith in the system to do it's job. He's justified in his view by the setting and backstory. But nevertheless he's acting selfishly because rather than using his immense wealth to help the police do their job he instead uses the money to do the polices' job without the authority and accountability of actually being one. He's taken it upon himself because he only trusts himself to get the job done. But it is a dark path that his own desires and ego could turn him into someone no better than the criminals he hunts.

I never could stand Batman. To me, he's a wimpy rich guy who overcompensates. Brooding, moody, judgmental, and most likely sexually oriented much differently (and more kinkily) than I. (NTTAWWT!) I usually root for the villains, esp. Heath Ledger's Joker. But usually, the stories and characters are just too loony and one-dimensional for me to bother.
