Incredible voice in the ‘80s let alone now! Huge respect to Green Gartside - good grief we were so lucky to have been born and grown up in the 70’s and 80’s!

@@mereej8924 you've hit it on the head. I too miss the 80s so bad. Where did it all go so wrong? Life was easier, simple and fun back then. Today, it's a cespit of ego and competition with everyone and everything.

To present that voice to the public back in the macho 80's would have been quite brave. It's a beautiful type of semi-falsetto & very original.

Great live performance. I just watched a video from 1988 where said they don’t perform live. I guess technology has come so far since then. Cupid & Psyche was ahead of its time and this song in particular is a real gem.

Didn't pay them much mind in the 80's....my loss still sound exactly the same what a great vocal sound. Green hasn't lost a single note or harmony. Just bought tickets for Nocturn at Blenheim Palace next June 2019. Playing alongside Tears for Fears. Can't wait.

Listen People. The way he is singing, called falsetto. Google it and then you have your answer why he still sounds the same. It’s not his real voice.
@scandalousblue4 жыл бұрын
why have you been commenting this on every single live scritti video... green himself has said that the partial falsetto was used in order to create an artificial rnb femininity. however, it ended up becoming the way of singing he found most comfortable and it stuck. it sounds brilliant too - most men's falsetto is a lot breathier and less sweet sounding, along with it being hard to maintain this voice through the years. he is a talented singer nonetheless - so why not let people enjoy a mans singing voice?

to say that this performance fails to live up to the studio version of Absolute would be charitable... no wonder Scritti never went out on tour back in the day. It would have shattered the mystique. Green's voice is still very good but the rest of it just sounds flat.
