Hello, thank you. There are different types of governors that can go with this pump. The one that we teach in class is the hydro-mechanical servo type governor, which is classified as variable governors. It uses the centrifugal force and spring effect of the mechanical governor to move a spool valve in which the servo switches passages for pressurized engine oil to flow through and eventually moves the fuel rack you see here that will rotate the injection pump plungers to either more or less fuel position. When the engine load increases the governor moves the fuel rack to the more fuel position allowing the engine rpm to raise, and then vice versa when engine load decreases. I don't have a video for that but hopefully this explanation helps. I'll try to make one later on.

This is just for the class purpose that we teach certain types. It doesn't cover all versions of it. Yes, majority of the pump's areas are lubed by oil, I agree. What we are talking about what being lubed by fuel are the pumps itself, not the whole housing/governor.

your delivery valve was upside down. that needs to be fixed.

Actually the delivery valve on these multiple plunger type or jerk pumps, specifically this brand, are shown here the correct way and it is exactly how it looks when you take those pumps apart. Once the plunger pressure exceeds 100psi it pushes the valve open upward. Now don't get me wrong, there are other similar type pumps on different brands that are the other way around and I think that is what you are referring to. They are mounted upwards with the spring at the bottom. We do have those at the schoolhouse and show them in-person. The fuel goes around the valve and pushes it down instead. However, this animation here shows the other brand with the valve this way. both designs work.
