truth also the man saying slums are not up to standard. in fact, there is a sort of denial, that many are in poverty regardless of their cash or holdings, as they will always want more, hence poor.

Many years ago, growing up in a village in Northeastern New Mexico, (U.S.) my family used to sort our household waste as part of our everyday routine. When done that way it becomes a habit and takes very little time. We had things for our burn barrel, (as was done in those days) non-burnable and inorganic for the dump, small containers for stuff to go to the chickens, to the goats, to the cat and dog. When I moved to a big city, and worked in a restaurant kitchen, I discovered that what I thought was normal was not shared by very many people. The restaurant had an arrangement with a pig farmer who would bring us clean containers for food waste, then take away the full ones to steam (to kill any pathogens) and feed to his pigs. I had a very hard time getting staff to understand the difference between pig food and trash - they were always putting non-edible, and even dangerous, things like metal and broken glass into the pig-food bins. So one of the video's points about the personal and cultural mindset and habits around waste being very important rings very true, and is a world-wide phenomenon. Thank-you for the informative and inspiring video, and a huge thanks to all the folks in India and around the world helping to make this happen.

Pramod sir, people in India are not interested in segregating at the home. They are not willing to make that much effort to the point that it’s considered laughable. Even the most educated people today also are clueless about segregation, less consumption and recycling in general. It’s a fight that I fight everyday and I’m seen as an idiot honestly. At the end of the day I just do my thing and that’s it.

Driving to a Hospital appt one morning the radio talks how was discussing waste. Belfast Council had asked waste be washed. An extremely posh gentleman rang in to ask what was e paying his taxes for, why should he rinse milk cartons, wash out tins. The host explained the high turnover in employees in the firms because of the odours etc. His comment, they're paid, at which point the host told him the hourly rate and added that as well as the odours the workers were subjected to huged rats, yet in areas where washing of recyclable waste was compulsory the change in odour and vermin had gone from 90% to less than 10 and was improving as binmen continued to check bins. If your bin had something in it they felt wasn't cleaned or a strong odour they rejected it. He was furious, still going on about his taxes. The host then said was he aware if he didn't take the time to rinse out say empty can of beans his bin would be rejected. What would he do then. He insisted they had to take it. The host read out the Letters that went out to every home, ironically, his home didn't get one and he swiftly hung up. I've a dishwasher, everything goes in. Only thing that's a problem are cats sachets, I put pretty hot water in them, water and liquid in sink, leave overnight, rinse next day, clean and no smell with virtually no effort, but I don't get my bin rejected as they're always first thing checked and those sorting waste don't have bad smell from unwashed sachets, all for a few minutes!

There is an easy solution to this. Give people some incentive to sort waste at the source in monetary form. There is a reason why we don't see newspapers in the trash. It's because they have a resale value. Even though it will cost the govt money but it's far better than spending taxpayer's money in building statues. Once it becomes a habit to sort our waste, people will most likely continue to do it even without any incentive in long term.

Amrit fertilizer a solid & liquid waste managemant cum technical expert in biogas plants in india "By introducing bio-gas as fuel for industrial use and to power with fossil-free fuel for eco-friendly environment, as we all know that, there has been increasingly more focus on reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases throughout india since many years. A very important rising technology in this regard is the anaerobic digestion of landfill and organic waste, which creates a gas with a high methane content that we call biogas. This biogas can be converted into electricity and heat through combustion in a Combined Heat and Power unit (CHP) and is a very sustainable energy source which can help us combating global warming. Bio-gas is a renewable form of energy produced from agricultural and food waste" We have a large scale biogas plant in our karnal, haryana, india unit successfully maintained from last five years with a capacity upto 3200 cubic meter by using mainly cow dung as well as waste potatoes, agri waste, vegetable market waste etc approx 30000 kg and waste water from village 30000 liters daily converting poooo into pooooower and generating renewable energy approx 2000 electric unit or 1.9 MW per day, also using in cooking gas and termal application for annealing purposes, our BIOGAS PLANT selected as success story at National Level ( under Gobar-dhan Yojana lauched by our prime minister Narendra Modi) ☆WASTE to wealth ☆Organic manure to productive farming ☆Clean energy ☆Reduce land fill ☆Swach bharat mission ☆Protect ozone layer from harmful gases ☆Breathfree ☆Help us combating global warming. ☆Future is CBG We reduce tonnes of carbon footprint co2 , also reduce methane, sulphur and four to five harmful gases from air "What others see as a problem, we see as a resource and a solution," the company's Technical Expert Aditya Aggarwal "People using milk as white gold, we are using cow dung as green gold"♡ the company's CEO Naval Kishore Aggarwal Amrit Fertilizer Near basanti colony Village kunjpura - 132022 Distt, Karnal , Haryana, INDIA E.mail : amritfertilizers@gmail.com Contact us : Amit aggarwal +00919468000222 (Marketing Head) Aditya aggarwal +00919468000333 (Technical Expert) Route map for visit our plant : goo.gl/maps/xTH87P94aiE2 Check out Amrit Fertilizer : g.co/kgs/eAG7D2 facebook.com/amritfertilizer/ (@AmritFertilizer): twitter.com/AmritFertilizer?s=09 I'm on Instagram as @amritfertilizer. Most of the cities in India are dirty, filthy to live in, over crowded, pollution, cows on roads, no common sense for public, no road discipline, open sewage, polluted rivers and other water resources, no waste management, no parking spaces. So much hectic and such a disaster. Very congested cities whereas rural areas are under developed.

Why do we need to get humans to sort our body fluids. Let top priority be given to a specific colour coded bag/bin for disgusting personal things like sanitary pads, diapers, hair, vomit, tissues laden with body fluids,. So that all this is never have to be mixed with kitchen scraps. Kitchen scraps bin should only have kitchen items not hair, pampers. Diapers etc. Oil, fish, meat, anything food should have a different colour coded bag/bin. This way we don't have people doing such disgusting work cleaning someone else's poor hygiene.

why is so much food getting wasted in the first place ?? why dont you just cook a bit less ? tell the diners to take only as much as they can eat. there should be no food left on their plates. its terrible to throw so much food in the dustbin when there are so many who go hungry. That food in the garbage was good enough to feed atleast 50 more people, whatever food is leftover "Donate: it to slum dwellers, homeless people, even donate to animal feeders. stray dogs can eat rice and vegetables. it is not smart to waste heaps of food and then look for ways to dispose it. I can understand recycling vegetable and fruit scraps as in peels and pits but not good edible cooked food. honestly if only good leftover food is collected from all kinds of eateries in Mumbai alone, it can very well feed over a 1000 people every night.
