Frank's Father was played by Bill Murray's eldest brother, Brian Doyle Murray, his brother James was potrayed by another of his real life brothers John Murray, and his other acting brother Joel Murray was at Jame's Christmas party as guest. None of the other Murray siblings act, and one or two have passed away.

Will always be one of my favorite Christmas movies. Its funny, its dark, but its also heartwarming. Bill Murray's monologue was mostly ad-libbed, and sure he's an actor so its the job, but that speech just feels so real and always has me tear up. Bobcat Goldthwait is also a personal favorite of mine and my favorite line in the movie comes from him: "That was just an innocent window and you saw what I did to that....I don't think you know who you're dealing with!" lol

When saying that the actors and the audience might be disappointed, you seem to miss that the shot that Frank interrupted was part of the final scene, they had already performed most of the show, his speech didn't prevent the show from happening it closed the show on an unusual note.

Great reaction ladies...I have always enjoyed this comedic 80s take on the classic A Christmas Carol/Scrooge story & Bill Murray is always a hoot. Watch for all those famous cameos 😉.... Fun facts - it was a family affair for Bill Murray because Murray's 3 brothers, Brian Doyle-Murray, John Murray & Joel Murray all play parts in this film (as Frank's dad, Frank's brother & Frank's brother friend at the family get together). Also Anne Ramsey (Mama Fratelli from The Goonies & Momma from Throw Momma From The Train) and her real life husband Logan Ramsey (from Star Trek: The Original Series as Claudius - episode Bread & Circuses, the Walking Tall trilogy as John Witter & Any Which Way You Can as Luther Quince) cameo as Eva and Billy, Herman's (played by Michael Pollard from Bonnie & Clyde as CW Moss, Star Trek: The Original Series as Jahn - Episode Miri, and in Tango & Cash as Owen the mechanic) were his friends at the homeless shelter. Annie Lennox & Al Green had the number 1 hit Christmas song (even though the song originally had nothing to do with Christmas at first) in 1989, with "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" and even recorded a music video for the song using clips from this movie within it. Have a Merry Christmas ladies & a Happy New Year 🎄🎅⛄🦌🎁🎊🍾🥂🕛🥳

I remember seeing this in the theater back in 1988, pretty close to or actually over the release weekend, and yes, people in the theater went nuts when Bill Murray was coaxing them at the end. The different sides of the theater cheered, the first cheers were always weaker, and then he said "Okay the REAL men"... and the cheers were much, much louder. If I'm not remembering this wrong, the women were the loudest. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies to watch every year. So glad you enjoyed it!

Not only did Bill Murray ad-lib his monologue at the end but two of the funniest moments of the movie were complete accidents that were left in. Murray falling down in the restaurant was a real fall by Murray and not part of the script. Neither was his accidental elbow into Grace's jaw when he jumped back from the elevator after seeing the production version of the ghost of Christmas future.

Yes, the book is called "A Christmas Carol", by Charles Dickens. Most of the film adaptations you'll see are also called that however there is a 1970 British production called "Scrooge". You should definitely see that! It's a big musical film based on the Dickens story and it's really wonderful! By the way, I saw both "Scrooge" and "Scrooged" in the theater, when they first came out. I was only 7 years old when I saw Scrooge and, believe me, there are some scenes and special effects in that film that scared the bejesus out of me! I was only 7 and had not been to a movie theater much before that so it was an experience, to be sure. See that one and you'll know what I mean. The 1988 "Scrooged" was a joy to watch in the theater. To this day it makes me tear up and it really hits home. Great flick. So glad you two like it!

"It's Christmas Eve! It's... it's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we... we... we smile a little easier, we... w-w-we... we... we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be!" Fun Fact: This was Bill Murray's first starring role since Ghostbusters (1984). Gun Enthusiast Fact: The sling mounted GE M134 minigun used by Lee Majors in the beginning of the movie was the same one used by Jesse Ventura in Predator (1987). Final Bow Fact: One of the special appearances in the movie was that of actor John Houseman. He died on October 31, 1988, less than one month before the movie was released in theaters on November 23. Murray Family Fact: All of Bill Murray's acting brothers, John Murray, Joel Murray, and Brian Doyle-Murray appeared in this movie. John's the only one that played his on-screen brother, Joel plays one of the guests at John's party, while Brian plays Bill's on-screen father. Historical Fact: When Frank (Bill Murray) throws water on the waiter he sees burning, he says he thought he was Richard Pryor to cover his insane behavior. This is a reference to an event in Pryor's life when he, while freebasing cocaine, accidentally set himself on fire and ran down a busy street in Los Angeles. What Script Fact: Bill Murray falling on his way out of the restaurant was unscripted and a genuine accident. Apparently, it was due to the stairs still being wet, after splashing the waiter with water, that caused him to lose his footing. Bill Murray ad-libbed most of his lines. In a 1988 interview with Philadelphia Daily News, Richard Donner discussed Murray's penchant for improvisation and described the experience of directing Murray as follows: "It's like standing on 42nd Street and Broadway, and the lights are out, and you're the traffic cop."

My favorite Christmas movie, except for maybe “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Regarding that one, I actually met “Zuzu,” as an adult about twenty years ago, and spent a couple of hours talking with her, sharing stories. Very nice lady. Anyway this one always makes me happy, the contemporary take on the classic Dickens story, full of mayhem from the beginning. Natalie, “sometimes people’s rejection is God’s protection.” 22:46 I’ve never heard that before, and it gave me pause to consider. Yes, that can be true, though it may not seem that way at the time.

I get a kick out of watching people see it for the first time, even if they don’t fully “get” it. I look forward to watching more reactions from you, especially classics and the occasional oddball film. I haven’t searched your playlists thoroughly yet, but I’m hoping to see my all-time favorite comedy, “What’s Up, Doc.” I love sharing it with friends, and as many times as I’ve seen it, it still makes me laugh along with my guests as much as I did the first time I saw it. Be well!

I don't understand. His TV Christmas commercial was unique and different. I would love it if more commercials were like his. I don't know about you, but all Christmas specials should have solid gold dancers. And don't lie, we all would staple antlers to the head of a rat. Merry Christmas dammit!

This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. The funniest joke to me has always been a visual gag that nobody really notices. Bill Murray’s character last name is cross, in his office is a banner with the definition, as it would appear in a dictionary of the word cross. Cross/noun something you nail someone to.

I've been putting my family through several iterations of A Christmas Carol. The 1984 version is my favorite straight-laced version. But then there's also the Muppets, Scrooged, and the Flintstone's telling of it. Mighty fine story for everyone wanting to put their own spin on it. Merry Christmas!

I must have watched this every other Christmas since it was made. Perhaps I'm a masochist in denial, or why am I falling more and more in love with Carol Kane (Ghost of Christmas Present) for every time I watch this? Or perhaps it's just because she's a great actress? I haven't been able to make toast without saying "It's a ... TOASTER!" and thinking of her for the last 30 years. :D This could be the movie that made me realise that a story can be better (or at least as good) if you move it to another setting or time period. They do it all the time with classics from theatre and opera, so why not literature?

Always love your reactions & Merry Christmas to you two. Since it's Christmas time, would you please react to the older Christmas movies? Miracle on 34th Street with Natalie Wood & It's a Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart. Thank you so much, once again so nice to watch movies with two beautiful ladies.

So Glad You Watched This! 🖒 Scrooged has always been one of my favorite Christmas movies! Had first watched it around the age of 8 years old, fondly remembered on VHS and Television. For some, it definitely has that nostalgic factor that brings back so many memories. However, can understand that if you're not from the 80's era or if dark humor isn't your thing in holiday films, this movie might not be your cup of tea. But hey, sometimes after a few drinks, if you can just relax the mind, and not take a movie too seriously, right? Haha! Best Scene... "It's a bone ya lucky dog!" - Ghost of Xmas Past (standing up)... 🤣

Hello ladies, feels like it's been a while. Always fun watching a movie with you both. One of my favourite Christmas movies is The Bishops wife. Cary grant, David Niven, it's an old one, but worth a watch and I'd love to watch it with you. 🇬🇧🙂 the edit is to say I found it on KZbin last week.

Didn't realize this was that old. I guess the presence of Mary Lou Retton and Lee Majors should have tipped me off. 🙄 Towel or VCR, that was pretty classic. As I recalled, they took this a bit too far IMHO, over the top so to speak. "The Night the Raindeer Died", seriously? I've always been a Robert Mitchum fan, so fun to see him.

Such a hilarious film, Bill Murray and really the whole cast do a fantastic job. I really love this movie, it’s definitely a Christmas film not talked about as much as other Christmas films these days, but it’s still excellent. It’s great to see you two watch this movie. I hope you two are doing well and take care!
