my very favorite part about this movie is how carol and therese seem to fall in love slowly but all at once. rooney and cate have chemistry that is unmatched. the way that therese shudders every time carol puts her hands on her shoulders as if she can feel her rushing through her veins. words like “i love you” and “i miss you” whispered so tenderly. god, i don’t know if i’ll ever get this film out of my head. thank you for capturing their love so perfectly.

Katy Miles. I still am not over this film! You described so well.. I really feel the same of this beautiful love story. So cute and vulnerable Therese was in the beginning and then desire, being seduced, the "I release you" letter, Therese being matured and later hold stand during Carol 's asking at the tea appointment untill the "I love you" is said... Therese then totally emotionally floored! My god! Beautiful build op in this movie! Well done Todd, wonderful chemistry between Cate and Roony!!🔥♥️

Maybe for all its complications in the story line surrounding the characters, it is the least uncomplicated in its bare essence of emotion, love. The greatness of love, the purity of love itself, the simplicity of love without all the stuff / boundaries and limits we attach to it, and the huge unselfishness of love, as in releasing someone because you love them so much you only want the best for them at no matter what cost to yourself. It just makes one feel so much in such an understated way. Two great actresses of such depth that crashed our lives, so superbly done.

Something similar to this had happened in my life. She and I are over 30 years apart. The first moment I saw her, I only remember her eyes and that our eyes met and locked into each others' gaze for several minutes. I could still feel the butterflies that I felt at that moment even now. It happened a lot of times. There were a lot of unspoken words that were left unsaid and a lot of desires left unexpressed. Still to this day, I wonder if that what was love is and if she felt the same as I. My heart says yes with full conviction but the doubt still exist in a corner of my heart. It is going to be a decade since we first met and grew feelings towards one another, but that's just about it. We both have neither said a word to one another, expressing how we truly feel as it will bring forth unnecessary consequences. She has a beautiful family. If I were to watch a movie and listen to a love song, her face is all that I remember. We don't talk now, but sometimes I do feel the longing of our hearts. Some things are hard to explain, especially the things that we feel when we're in love. I love her very much and I doubt I can love anyone else as much as I loved her. I always want the best for her, even if it means that I will not be a part of her life anymore.

The movie hurts so much. my ex is 20 years older. I was 20 when we met. so much similarly, it feels so familiar. except, my ex never loved me, she never cared, as I come to realize. it's almost my story, but the ending is different. I can't bring myself to watch it again. the opening is bringing me to neverending tears. it's so f###### painful. I didn't see my ex for the last (almost) 3 years. She dumped me, again. She broke my heart after coming back after 6 years since the first break up. I don't care anymore whether it's healthy or not (obviously Not. Toxic AF). I wish I'd had their love. I wish I'd had their end. I wish she could love me, like Carol loves There's. I wish I'd had matter to her.....at least a little bit. It's absolutely killing me.
