It’s not necessarily your skill level that’s affecting your confidence, but more of your confidence that’s affecting your performance. You’re better when you’re not trying so hard to be better.

jesus that first guy was in your head, and you put him there. where'd the killer instinct go? You used to dissect the mental of every opposition. Needa get that fire back and channel it.

come on Scrub lad.. you gotta switch up your mental here, i know you know confidence is the key in RL so going in saying you're probably gonna lose is just setting yourself up for failure. it's great that you say you're committed to the grind but you gotta play with a more "i'm gonna try my best and learn" attitude rather than "i'm washed". it sounds redundant i know but yea man, i'm sure a load of use will be keen to watch you play 1v1s on your upcoming grind anyways. you got this bro!!

Don't kid yourself it's a hard game. What do you want, to win a game or to get better at the game? Winning depends on your competition. Getting better at the game is all yours. For example my boxing coach did 3 pro fights in his earlier years and lost all 3. He knew he was shit and got motivation to improve. Imagine if he won all 3 fights and then hung up the gloves. He'd carry on thinking of himself as being a really good boxer and not only would that be an empty statement but he never would have improved. Everyone in the sport is connected, and the overall skill rises.

I can't believe the toxicity even at high level in this game. Guik saying "you're so bad, just lucky" at the end of the game... It looks like a Gold 1 teenager, not a top 100 player. I expect more from this type of top players.

Nah that guy is just an immature salty loser. Ego bigger than their skillset. Dude needs a humbling. Can definitely see that Scrub used to be that guy in the past, but he's matured a lot. Right now scrubs problem is his confidence level. He says that he's only scoring off defense and opponents mistakes, but that's literally the game. Defense wins games and championships. Flashy triple reset double taps is pretty to look at, but better mechanics doesn't mean you're a better player or that will guarantee you a win. People that say you're "lucky" for winning, just haven't matured yet.

1s gets the worst out of people but just in case, you are loved Scrub, don't let yourself hold you back. It's a new game and a new day, time to reset. The few OGs that are still left have been through the same struggle that you have, it's about finding a way to make it work and drop the luggage of many years of heavy competition. If you set your mind to it you can rise to the top, but only if you really want it, don't burn yourself out.

You were top of the food chain in 1s by out-meching players when the game was in its infancy, the game has grown though and so have you, you're up against younger players with lightening reaction times and fierce mechanics. You're offensive mechanics aren't where you shine Scrub, and you realised that last video, when you start playing smart and wait more, you saw success. You have some of the best defense in the game, you're allowed to use that to your advantage with counters, you don't need to out-mech your opponents now, you are older, more humble and wiser now, and know the game better. I think we will see an improved scrub with more 1s, I reckon you will grow to become a more solid player, flawless fundamentals, surgical decision making and clinical touches of the ball, outplaying your opponent is where you succeed. Add a dash of Appjack and a sprinkle of Flakes to your playstyle, if you get me. I'm an OG, I only watched you, Squishy, Appjack and Flakes, a lot of my playstyle was subconsciously moulded from watching you, you're a huge influence to a lot of people. Don't not believe in yourself Scrub, I do, we do. Proud to have you rep my country on the scene, and I want to see you lift that trophy again Champ.

i feel for scrub, you can tell the guys been feeling the pressure to be the best 1s player in the world for ages. he clearly has it in him still i think, i remember him coming up as this aggressive kickoff winning player. now that the game is so mechanical, its waaaay harder to keep being the one controlling the pressure which doesnt work in his favour. still the fact that he can win games in a style that he clearly doesnt favour tells you how good he really is imo. as everyone says 1s is a mental game and its a tough one. either hes gotta grind mechs to be ultra fast on the transitions and punish, which is what i think hes trying here, or relax his mental to slow the pace to his playstyle. idk though as long as he enjoys the game hes good enough to do whatever he likes

I know that scrubs talking negative but the passion is back and that’s what I care about. The negative chat is mis construed by people - Scrub is using this mindset to improve and not let losses effect him however it’s a dangerous dance, you can’t stay there too long. As soon as you improve you need to get the killer instinct and confidence back.

You’re my favorite. For years I’ve been trying to decide who my favorite RL pro is. It’s you. It’s the level of relatability that I have to you. Not just the game play. You’re a world champion. Yes, the game has changed, the skill ceiling continues to rise. While you may not feel like it, to many of us you actually are that guy. Take it easy on yourself

Bro, the toxicity of being hard on yourself, not only isn't fun to watch, it's also not helping your mental. You might not be dominant like you once were, but a huge percentage of you "not being good" is mental. You go from being cocky (at least projecting that) or shitting on yourself. I havent seen you just grinding and having fun for YEARS.

despite the depressing nature of admitting to being "trash", this was actually one of the better videos in a while, because there was plenty of commentary and observations and clear motivation shown to improve on the lacking areas. Just to say that despite not being a flashy video, the upload/content itself is actually more interesting than the usual RL video and I really enjoyed it. I watched to the end for once lately

You were a world champ. One of the greatest 1v1 players ever and at a time the best in the world. You don’t have to compete at that level for 10 years. Nobody does. I think you still have the potential to be a top tier pro but over thinking and the rise of highly mechanical play is holding you back. I know it’s easier said than done to say “get more mechanical” but I believe you have the skill set to improve.

From what I can see the top 10, 20 players in 1v1 usually do more flicks and resets when attacking compared to Scrub. Diaz is a top 10 1v1 player but has not done anything in 2v2 or 3v3 with Complexity until now, so I guess Scrub only needs to improve his offensive mechs a little and he will be back on the top.

Your lack of confidence makes you play lazy Rocket League. I'm not telling you anything new here, 1s is about all the small and awkward interactions, but you avoid those by diving or pulling the trigger early or unnecessarily, giving away possession and control.

Im what youd call a "nobody", and "absolute garbage". Like "literal garbage". But some tips from the garbage: 1. "Probably gonna lose but gonna try my best" is a decent mentality. No pressure here. 2. But riding on that train is bad, dont keep thinking about your mistakes in game. Can you magically make your kickoffs 2x better in game? Nah. Good that youre conscious about it. But set simple goals in sessions. Like "this session imma try and improve on freestyling and clip on these braindead goombas". Trying to do it all at once is just dumb 3. You dont have as much control over the game as you think. I feel like 1s at that level offers significant control to the one who has possession. Its in their hands whether its going to be a goal or not. Defenders are just trying their best to make it harder. Rw9 is just an exception 😅. So yeah, next time you lose a goal line 50 because of a "garbage" challenge, just remember that you were just dealt a losing hand there.
