As always great video! Loved the coverage you had of the 35th anniverasary edition, especiaally since i own one (crystal clear coat white) a lot of people dont realize the difference just from a quick glance. but their are significant differences. Heres something "fun fact" to add to this piece, Ford also gave 35th owners a gift package commering the 35th anniversary that consisted of a 1:18 scale diecast model, some CDs with music from the 60s, and some other small stuff.

Mine is a 35th anniversary GT, it is silver but someone changed it to be a two-tone with blue, and all those cool things that you said was on it are now removed from previous owners

I own a 03 gt with 53000 on it and it has full bolt ons except cams and its a dark shadow grey and its my daily driver i love this car i want a 01 cobra thats my next car i want i love all your videos my 03 is premium with mach1000 stereo And 3650 trans it will bury the 150 speedo shes special i dont know what has been done to her before i got her but shes faster than the other 03s ive rode in she is a blast to drive i put a cold air intake .a 320gph fuel pump accel coils.a bbk 78mm tb.bmp tubular front control arms .a 5.0 shifter .300amp altenator.ceramic brakes and premium shocks and struts and a predator 93 tune and she came to me with flow master cat back exaust .and it all works great together ive owned her since 2017 and it is a pleasure every time i get behind the wheel i love this car and ill never sell her .so i under stand your love for new edge mustangs and i wished i had your collection of them

6:15 was the intake cracking really a common problem? Thought these engines were reliable (crown vics)

Yes, very common. It cracks at the front or rear where the coolant passages are. I like the DOHC since there isn’t any coolant in the intake manifold like the 2V. I’ve had to do this repair several times on my cars and my friends cars

Dan thanks for the reply. Do you mean to say you have done this repair more than once on the same engine? Or is it fixed for good after the initial repair? I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I am looking for a six or eight cylinder manual vehicle for around $5k as a weekend toy. I wanted a V8 because I have never owned one. But I don't want my toy to be a money-pit. My other considerations were a honda accord coupe or a Solara.

BKofficer23 With the proper replacement intake manifold it has not needed it again. These mustangs are pretty good otherwise

The only 6 speeds offered were the 2000 Cobra R and the 03/04 Cobra with the t56. Half way through 2001 the 5 speed was changed to the tremec TR3650, but still a 5 speed

Edwin Hernandez Bright Atlantic blue was not one of the 35th anniversary editions. It would have had the 35th badge on the side like all 99 Mustangs (except the cobra), but it was not an anniversary edition. Red, Black, Silver, and White are the only colors for the Anniversary edition

The New Edge V6 engine was poorly designed and under powered considering how much displacement it *had. If only ford used over head cams on it, it would have had far more HP. A 3.0L DOHC V6 camry was rated at 190 hp to the crank for comparison.

Harbinger any more hp and the GT would have been a bad bargain. I often feel that they purposely separated the horsepower gap between them

Bravo. Geat vid. There is so much to cover with these cars. A few things I found out were that although the spoiler and hood scoop on the 35th anniversary package GT's look like the 01-04 GT's, they are different dimensions and moldings. The 2000 spring edition GT's also had the parts. As for the Cobra R, it has the 01-04 headlights. You should make a vid about the Cobra R itself sometime. So many cool facts like how the hoods were added after production, they had to have 17's to go down the assembly line cuz the 18s were too wide for the tracks, ect ect. Great vid. So much info to compress but so well represented.

The first SVT Cobra I drove was a 2001 Mineral Gray convertible. Blurred my vision and kept pulling to 6,800rpm compared to my 97 V6 150hp Mustang at the time. It was the fastest car I had driven at that time. Sweet car.

I remember this so well. Back in 99 one of my good friends was one of the first ones to buy a 99 GT in our area. Everybody had the V6 s at first LOL. And he raced a 99 Cobra on I-10 around Lafayette Louisiana and I believe he beat him by a fender. And I remember him telling me that the man looked so shocked and he was like man I'm glad I didn't waste my money on a cobra those things are slow. Then it was almost like the next week the article came out about them having power issues.

Yeah, I haven’t finished video 2 covering 2001+. Ford ran out of engines for 2004 because they were going to the over head cam 4.0L in 2005 and had to get the 3.9L which was mostly used in mini vans and f series trucks.

I had a 99 GT 35th Limited Edition, was number 2013 of the run, I think.. I really liked the silver/black leather, I miss the car, after an accident I traded it for a Viggen. But in 2016 I got a '00 GT and loving modding it.

Very informative video! I have found a 1999 SVT Cobra at a used car dealership near me and was wondering if there is a way to know if the “performance fix recall” has been done on this car or not? Car appears stock by the photos online and in great shape. I looked at the Carfax online and the car shows 3 owners but service records were not visible. Is it the kind of thing where I would would have to contact Ford directly with the car’s VIN number to find this out?

Ford might have info on it. Otherwise you’ll have to remove the top intake manifold cover to see if they etched in a serial number for the new, updated ported intake

In a week or so I'm going to be owning 2 new edge mustangs; an 01 v6 I got from my ex's mom with 204K miles and it's a royal trashbox, I don't know when it's going to break down next. My new mustang is a 04 convertible with a new motor and rebuilt trans and a buncha other goodies included, just no catalytic converters, so I'm gonna take off the ones from my current car and throw them on the new one

henry ford if your vin has an x as an 8th digit, then you have one of the last Windsor engines made in the early 2001. I noticed this as well when I was ordering a timing chain kit for my 01 Bullitt

If you really want one of these older/non classic mustangs and you have a 99-01ish gt,then you should change out the intake manifold for updated design with aluminium runner. But really cant be a naturally aspirated Coyote for power and reliability without a super charger prematurely tearing up engine. The rare Terminators are the exception to New Edges that have reliable super charger setup and engine toughness, of course.

I had a 2000 gt with 3:73 gear, full flow flowmaster exhaust, 18" Cobra rims, underdrive pulleys, and a short throw shifter. It also had a stalker ll hood and ground kit. It looked amazing and was fast for what it was, and sounded great.

I have a question for you, just not sure where else to ask. Do you know if there is anything special about the positive battery cable on these cars that would prevent me from replacing it with an aftermarket one? I need to replace mine and it looks like mine has already been hacked. Any input would be appreciated thanks.

Yes, just run new cables in place of the old ones. As long as they are the same gauge wire (thickness) it should work just fine. Be aware that the positive cable usually also branches off to the starter and the fuse box

Jeffrey Barrett The f-150 body style was 1996-2003. Sometimes Ford and GM would offer both styles for the last year of a body style as well

Jeffrey Barrett yes, in 2004 the new body style came out, but you could also get the old body style in 2004 known as the “F150 heritage.”. Gm did the same thing in 1999 offering both old and new
