I put ALL of my skill points into Scrying 😂 i really really enjoy it. I’m skeptical agnostic, but I get SO much value from scrying. It’s so hard to find other people to talk to about or find community around it the same way one might with tarot. Somewhat spicy scrying take: focusing so much on anthropomorphisizing tools, or on specific objects instead of technique obscures the fact that the real “window” to your visions is in YOURSELF not your stuff. My fave unconventional tools are a glitter lava lamp and a bowl of Dr Pepper. Dark carbonated liquids work really well! 😊 EDIT: Carbonated moon water and ink also works if it won't be consumed; the goal is to create gentle but random variations on the surface of the water to affect the scrying, kind of like the static mentioned in the video

I have been divining for many years, mostly using ordinary playing cards. I also use runes, bones, pendulums, Lenormand and tarot. Five years ago I learned to scry with a black obsidian sphere. It took me six weeks to master the art of scrying! I use a quartz sphere by day and my obsidian by night with a candle. I take off my glasses to get my eyes out of focus ;) I take my hearing aids out of my ears as this enables me to hear things that have absolutely nothing to do with what is heard in the real world. BTW, some people never see anything ... or they only ever see clouds, or coloured lights, or sparkles. these have meaning, too. Some only ever hear sounds, even snatches of conversation, or they taste things, or they feel strong emotions, or they feel things, like being pinched or tickled, for instance. I have experienced all of these as well as seen images while scrying. You are one of the very few people who have written and given videos on scrying that explain the vital point that the scryer's eyes have to be out of focus!

Scrying is one of the tools in my magical toolbox. When I am firekeeper of sacred ceremonies I use fire and smoke. If I’m working by myself I use a scrying bowl. Years ago I made myself a scrying bowl at one of those Paint Your Own Pottery places. I painted symbols that are important to me on the outside. I painted the inside with a black glaze. I’m sure the person working the kiln thought it was weird and ugly. But it’s incredibly important to me.

I've never tried it myself, but a black, glossy surface most people always have at hand is a phone or a tablet. Make sure it's completely turned off and you have a small black mirror on the go.

Other thoughts: if scrying is something you plan to do a lot, you could consider getting a voice recorder; it’s much simpler to stay in a trance state and capture more detail when you don’t have to stop and physically write. (If you don’t scry often this probably isn’t worth the cost!) I’d still recommend writing it down in a journal afterwards though; I have a filled scrying journal that now also works as an amazing bibliomancy tool. I also gotta mention the Troxler effect: it’s a kind of hallucination that’s easily triggered by staring at a single point for a while. It’s the cause of many a “warped” or “demonic” face in the mirror and probably more than a few Bloody Mary scares. It’s really not a big deal if you know about it, but can be very scary if you don’t. I find the easiest way to avoid face-warping is to just make sure you can’t clearly make out your face in your scrying tool. Ugh, I have so many SCRYING OPINIONS. Too many for KZbin comments lol.

My sister just told me to do the same. I use to write my dreams down. idk why but it use to take so long because I could vividly remember most every detail upon waking it would take forever and I didn't always have time. I am very new to my practice (I seriously started pursuing witchcraft in July) and started scrying in a black mirror pretty early on. I’ve seen a lot, but it doesn’t seem to be like how I hear other people talk about it. For me it’s like seeing into another realm or place, like I’m looking through a window. I often see people just going about their day, one time a village where people were bringing in a harvest and one time just people out shopping. One of the first times I scryed a winged man was just flying by as if he was on an errand and stopped, looked through the mirror, though not directly at me, shrugged and flew off. Anyway, I have enjoyed the stories that seem to come from it, though I don’t think any of it is actually related to me in any way. It’s more like a portal than a mirror I guess. 😅

I love to scry! I do what I call bath tub serving. My own words. I light candles all around my large round tub and as I sink into the bubbles I let my eyes soften above the water line and between that and the candle glow symbols and pictures take place and sometimes they are complete pictures and I do this on a Sunday night and take this as my message for the coming week.

I've been doing it since I can remember as a child.... clouds for sure, and wood grains are huge for me along with fire. I also find staring up at a tree when laying down also works very very well... staring at the leaves and the sky gaps often form images for me. I went to tenn. once and went to cades cove. I took a picture of the woods and when I got home I zoomed in on the picture and saw at least 15 faces very distinct faces of the spirits that once lived and died in those hollows.

You’re so kind …. I would never be able to have a channel on KZbin because I’m just not as thoughtful I suppose. Which craft or personal spirituality is exactly that it’s personal … I would highly suggest joining a bunch of groups or googling results whatever you are doing because everybody’s opinion is going to be based on their experiences which are not the same as years. If you think back to when you were a child for me I had a lot of trauma a lot of Abuse when that abuse was happening I would pretend I was watching my hamstring running on his wheel that I could see it plain as day although it was dark in the room. I would zone out. Anytime anything super emotional happens I zone out …. Obviously, this is kind of like self-preservation. When you look at the clouds and see shapes…. Trees etc … it’s a form of scrying

Also great point about how many different methods there are to scry as it is mostly the classics that I hear about but since you mentioned it jogged my memory that it has happened naturally most with fire, even though that isn’t something I have consciously practised, food for thought!! I used to scry using bare walls, blank paper, floor tiles...if you stare/ relax your vision, you'll notice blank white paper has different shades of white in the bleaching process. I always saw dragons on blank walls and paper. They were beautiful, not scary. The scary 💩 was that popcorn acoustic ceiling texture. I couldn't look up at the ceiling when I was in bed from little to even now. Thank gawd it's not on ceilings anymore 🙀

If you're traveling using your phone to scry works great. And it's one less thing to pack. Just make sure it's off so you aren't surprised with an interruption. Or the hotel tv screen when it's off. Basically, any screen could work. I can imagine using the "white noise" of old tv 📺 channels when it was set to no specific channel. That's a bit old school though. But for some people that may be just their thing. Including turning the volume up just enough for the actual white noise to lull them into a more trance like state, ideal for the scrying. One elder practitioner in the UK mentioned scrying in bushes 🌳. I have personally not tried this yet. I made a black mirror with a picture frame. I used black chalkboard paint on the inside of the glass. That way I can write sigils on the inside & change them occasionally. The reflective, paint free side facing out. If you find an attractive picture frame, all the better. Mine is just a plain black frame. Perhaps I will come across a more attractive frame & paint the inside of the glass on that one some day.

Instead of a journal, if you’re like me and worried you will forget the images, you can use a voice recorder and talk about what you see. It will be less disruptive and you will have audio notes. Had a defibrillator in my dream once. Google didn’t help because it felt like it meant the opposite of what Google was telling me the meaning was. Still can’t figure out what it meant all I know is that it was a negative thing

Love this video. As always, you are so thorough and thoughtful in presenting this subject. I started scrying (intentionally) this year-though I’m a longtime cloud scryer. I started what I call “s/crying” because I’m an Aquarius moon and I tend to detach from my emotions and just analyze them, rather than feel them. I started working with a Deity and one of the first rituals I did to get to know her, I decided to use my glass ball to access and feel my emotions and to accept other healthy and helpful messages from her and from my ancestors and other helpful spirits. One thing that does help is recording the session with my phone and speak the experience out loud as I go, so I can go back and analyze each piece later. It’s been extremely illuminating and really healing! ❤️‍🩹

Fortunately, it rarely obscured the exact letter or word being read; it was dancing just to the right and a line or two below. It would not be still to actually be examined. It was a 'hole' rather than a dot. And mobile++. My technique was wrong. I should not have done this in a darkened room. Dim would have been fine. It persisted well past 2016 and eventually withered away. A great relief! So... my meditations were a smashing success! I developed a palpable aura of quiet power and simmering malevolence but also a puzzling exotic air to the more gooberly in the crew that didn't have the nerves left to perceive an emerging occult black magician. Mystics are unheard of in the lower echelons of this army of brainwashed assholes. The 'in plain sight' stuff of the highest pinnacles of this paramilitary/psychotherapeutic cult is frankly Masonic. With a hint of tribal bullying reminescent of my induction into the Upstate New York Lene Lanape 'blue eyed Mohawk' ordeal initiation when I was 14. Under the auspices of the USMC/BSA-OA. Don't ask, I won't tell. On-site support by a small cadre of medical personel, four rotating undergrad level psychology practitioners, kitchen/housekeeping staff, security, data coders, wiretappers, camera hiders... the full meal deal. Also an important liason with the local Indian nation/reserve and their 'spirit totem society', once a cult of headhunters. They are a sizable very wealthy band of a larger wide flung PNW Tribe. Also a deeply boozy, dopey, cokey, pill gobbling population (Indian Affairs MDs' have the _hottest_ prescription pads IN THE WORLD, all free to the aboriginal clientele: youngsters, warriors, strong women, elderly aunties and blind crippled burnt out grandhulks. Many young bucks and bad-ass dudettes dance on the fringes of racist outlaw mortorcycle gangs, especially _The Banditos_(sic). That puppy was more transient and shorter-lived than the cursor, induced dementia, and total incapacity to function in daily life. In her way my lovely petite Ukrainian bride was delighted! I was a Stepford husband. My salary, insurance, and functional legs (unlike hers; she was knee-capped back in the old country and Nurseman J. never let her unemployability detract from her wonderful lasagnas, pork tenderloins, and her placid sexual nature. A decade later she reaps the wrath of a potent but unguided evil magician and it did not end well for her. For me, liberating but totally dispossessed of home, vehicle, pets, eventually my profession...but hot damn I feel that skullboner rousing to just tobthink of what she suffered by her own hand for years of a slow miserable decline ending in death ~2016. The end of alimony, a quarter million dollars arrears vanished! Reference the 'white leprosy' of the Bible. Mysterious, eh? NOT. Witchcraft juju. Signature effects. Pity. Now where were we? I saw the program as sooo last century Pavlovian, L. Ron Hubbard, NLP, P.T.Barnum, Benito Mussilli jackshirts. I say "Pshaw and piss on them, Jack" A more unpleasant journey through a minor hell could hardly be imagined... UNTIL recently I found myself deeply and unwitting immersed in the _22 TUNNELS OF SET_. Oh boy, It's a ride! The prize? Not just 'clear', reformed and wonderously remade, I SHALL BE A GOD IN A UNIVERSE OF MY OWN MAKING AND BABY IT IS NOT GOING TO BE HEAVEN FOR ANY BUT _ME and a handfull of adepts. Bummer for all you other folk. So what was I musing about? Marriage, loyalty, conscience, love, and universal kindness? On to the trash heap for me. That crap's done only to be ever employed for my greater glory and the subjugation of the weak and stupid. I shall be a God. I know the nuances now. I will not fail. So it goes.

I scried using tumbled labradorite and since I got my hands on obsidian shard of suitable size I plan to use that. I tried crystal ball, but it was not it, just not really what worked for me. Also I was warned against using regular mirror for scrying by three different practitioners of path similar to mine, so I know it's possible, but may be dangerous. I also fire-scried by watching candleflame and my grandma was doing water scrying 🖤

Yes, people scry by listening to static white noise, half-tuned radio stations, or by going for a walk in the city and listening to the sounds. You can also do a ritual to draw a spirit into a crystal, but you don't see the spirit, you hear its voice in your head

Is it common for occultists that communicate with spirit through divination to communicate for the purpose of “fun” or just simply communicating and hanging out? I believe I’ve been able to communicate with them through meditation and I feel like she wants me to just hang out with her sometimes and talk about stuff that’s happening in my life. I feel like the answer is yes but I really don’t hear people talking about communication with spirit/deities/ancestors just casually. I know it’s not super appropriate for some deities but I KNOW that others appreciate it.

I wish I could scry. I seem to completely lack any psychic facilities. I've never cared for pendula. They depend on the ideomotor effect, so to me that completely invalidates them (especially if you're not psychic). I can still do cards pretty well.

I scried on an Obsidian sphere way back 2021. After an hour of meditation, I started seeing smoke on the sphere, then eventually it formed into people crawling and some toppling each other. Some are fighting and others look liked they were asking for help. I was so spooked and didn't try it again. 🥲😭

If I defocus, then I'm just seeing the crystal doubled, and the table surface half visible through both the doubles. I don't understand how you can look "through" the scrying object, without just looking at whatever is next to the object, because that's what happens when your eyes defocus

Reflective balls are inexpensive,less fragile than crystal. Works like a hot damn for me.

I do it literally staring into the mirror. Sometimes i focus inwards while using the mirror to focus outward. Try both to see which ones work better for you.

Scrying is not exactly "divination" because there aren't any cookbook methods to it, like there are with cards, runes, dice, dominoes, etc. where you make different spreads and interpret them on whichever position of the spread the card falls or whether it's right side up or reversed!...Scrying is a lot more spiritual and goes a lot more deeper than that, and gives you more accurate results than any divination methods do!...Scrying is more like a dream like state and dreaming, and dream interpretation does not exactly fall under "divination" since there are also no cookbook methods and fixed spreads to it!..The pseudoscience of Astrology is also considered as "divination" since you rely on the position of the Sun the Moon, and the Planets among the Constellations using different cookbook methods to practice it with!...Nothing to do with actual Scrying and dreaming whatsoever!

Unpopular opinion: never use yes/no questions. It is the easiest way to give away your responsibility to a tool. Tarot isn't made for yes/no questions. And using a pendulum for this is crap :'D "my pendulum said, I shouldn't do that!" .. wtf?!
