Rest in Peace Joe. I never know who to watch in the 5 Neat Guys catalog. Everyone is doing something special. But you Joe. You. You getting drunker and drunker as the songs roll on, is what makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. Thank you so much Joe for making me laugh. You always did. You never failed. Not once. This is a hard world. And laughing seems a luxury. You didn't give us the cheap stuff. You gave us gold.

And I think that we all know what they mean by "Relish" on my "Hot Dog" if you know what I mean. As I think everyone figured out long ago, the 5NG's were the inspiration for Ted Nugent and his love songs "Pants Party," "No that's Not a Banana in My Pocket," "One Eyed Worm," "Can I Squeeze Your Melons," "Rounding 3rd," and Calling First for Sloppy Seconds."

The first couple times I saw it, I just thought he was supposed to have been an out of sync, overly enthusiastic weirdo, then when I found out he was hammered, it folded in another layer of laughter.

Overly sincere message, here goes: So my love of SCTV is very, very recent. I was incredibly sick for months towards the end of last year. I discovered SCTV and it quickly became one of my favourite things. The concept of it all being made through this fictional tv station was just so funny to me and I'd never seen anything quite like it. Along with the other members, Joe created something that genuinely kept me going through some of the worst months of my life. Perfect delivery every time and a warmth and sillyness that comes through with each performance. Thanks Joe for helping me through some pretty bad shit and for still bringing so much joy to so many people after 40 years. K going back to being cynical again now✌️

If you haven't seen it, check out "The Gerry Todd Show" where Rick Moranis shines. And "The Days of the Week," a fake soap opera. Joe is so funny in that, I literally laughed my ass off. The guy was totally genius. There are points I laughed almost to tears because it's literally so stupid. I think it's basically a send-up of 80s soap operas. "Ride Like the Wind" is also awesome, I think it's part of a Gerry Todd episode. About Michael McDonald when he was an overworked background singer. Everyone is funny in "Days of the Week," but Joe and Johnny Candy just made me split a gut.
@JacobKacob8 ай бұрын
@@rocketreindeer Don't worry, my odyssey into SCTV went DEEP as I had nothing else to do for months. Some great recommendations! Days of the Week is definitely a favourite of mine and you're absolutely right that it's a fantastic showcase of how funny each member can be.

I wonder if all the songs that were featured in both of the 5 Neat Guys segments were recorded in full or just enough for the sketches. I think had they actually released the songs featured in both sketches as comedy albums (like The Great White North) they would have done really well sales wise and would be collector's items now.
