London Bridge is an open cut through a rock on the exposed Norther tip of Tobago. It is the point where the Caribbean and Atlantic meet and is exposed to the Northern swells. Special arrangements must be made to dive there and even then, prevailing conditions may prevent the dive. On this SailDives.com adventure, the seas were not rough, the current was not too strong and the viz was not too low. The dive was a go!
You decend on a protected side of one of several huge rocks that jut out of the sea then fin around among Sharks and Morays and huge schools of Brown Chromis, and in Tobago schools of Black Durgeon. A stop by the suspened rock and then descend to made the way to the entrance of London Bridge.
The surge picks ups as we approach the entrance, "Swim with the surge then hold on!" Kestor advises, there's no turning back once you enter the Bridge. The surge becomes so strong that Corey felt her regulator almost got pulled out. The sequence was filmed by Sal, one handed in one take and by the end of the ride, everyone is huffing and puffing.
