SCUBA DIVING BELIZE | Ambergris Caye and Placencia | travel vlog 2019

SCUBA diving in Belize in a highlight of both the Caribbean and tourism in Central America. While the jungles attract a lot of tourists, Belize is also home to the second largest barrier reef in the world. It has so many incredible experiences for those who love to dive or snorkel. For this SCUBA diving adventure travel vlog I teamed up with PADI, a world famous diver training organization, and William Drumm, a talented underwater photographer.
We started the trip by taking a small plane from Belize City to San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. Here, we met up with Ramon's Village Resort and dove Hol Chan Marine Park, as well as many of the beautiful coral channels that snake through the reef. Highlights here for us were Nurse Sharks, Loggerhead Sea Turtles, and even an Octopus
Unfortunately our dive to The Great Blue Hole was cancelled due to weather, but ended up seeing a Bottlenose dolphin underwater close to the reef. Not a bad replacement.
Next was taking another plane from San Pedro to Placencia to meet Patricia at SPLASH dive centre to dive at Silk Caye. We island hopped, saw the underwater goddess statue, and trekked through Cockscomb Basin.

I stayed @ Ramon's in 2016, diving was good but I've been told that diving the outer cayes, the Atolls are the bomb like Lighthouse Reef, Turneefe Atoll & Glovers Reef

I was fortunate to spend a summer, 1968, in Belize. It is so much different now from what it was then. It had just gained its independence from Britain. It's a beautiful country with beautiful people. I spent a week on a small cay near the reef, and had a wonderful time. No resorts, just roughing it. Swam with the barracudas and had a blast. Would love to go back.

That transition from the jungle to underwater was SO sick, man! I've always been fascinated by the little remoras that trail after the sharks, looking for a free and easy meal. I've never seen a giant basket star before. Fascinating-looking animal! And how gorgeous was that spotted eagle ray? And I'd never seen a juvenile spotted drum until your Instagram story. And your footage from South Silk Caye is next level. Some of the most beautiful dive footage I've ever seen. Your SCUBA diving videos remind me why I seriously wanted to study marine life for a long time! Even the sea turtles from the wrong side of the tracks. 😉 Haha, hopefully you'll get to dive the blue hole someday! Gorgeous, stunning video, Mike. Or should I call you Captain Mike? ✈️🐉

I think that basket Star was low key my favorite animal we saw. It’s the first time I encountered one, and it was very cool he was eating the animals around my light. Well... the dolphin was really cool too, and the eagle rays at night. Maybe I have a lot of favorites... 😆

Next time you guys go back to Belize, Hit Me Up !!! Let's do the way way out outer cayes, we will have to stay on the Atolls, such as Lighthouse Reef, Turneefe or Glovers itself because the boat ride is so long both ways from Placenicia or Dangriga & gas is super expensive these days, especially in 2021 going into 2022. Hated your dive trip ended so fast in Placenicia. Take Care, Louis
