Just stumbled on one of your videos and decided to watch a few more. You're a good narrator and your videos are fun to watch. I also live on a sailboat in Washington, but farther north than you. Recently took up diving and logged almost 50 this year - many in and around Anacortes!

Hey Sarah, it’s super cool to watch you get reacquainted with having a fixed address (of sorts). Congrats on the boat acquisition! Also commiserations regarding the podcast. I’ve been diving DIR twinset for a while, but I just switched to sidemount. You once mentioned how much easier it is to swim in sidemount, and I kept hearing that sentence on my first SM night dive. A single frog kick would propel me forward and I just wouldn’t stop. And the trim, omg the trim. I fully get your hype and commitment to this way of diving. Thanks for everything! Oh and 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️ (the podcast episode with Greg was fire, shame we won’t get to hear the other diversity ones)

There are incredible species disappearing before we have even had a chance to collect basic data about them 😕 A huge thank you for any exposure you can give to community / citizen science programs like these. I wish a larger % of the dive community would help. People don't realize just how important these datasets are both now and for the future. Even here in the "wealthy" united states there is almost no monitoring and very little research funding for the countless species that don't have "commercial value" (ie: can be hunted, harvested, sold, etc).

I'm so grateful for these organizations and volunteer citizen scientists for all the their efforts!

I know what you mean about the pure joy of diving. I've just finished my TDI Adv Nitrox and Deco course and even among the pressure of learning/demonstrating skills/dealing with scenarios I was continually reminded how great it feels to be cruising through the water in harmony with the your world!

Here's a tough one. doing my cave diving in mainly Florida, maybe tulum. Which drysuit should I consider. I started asking around. It's all over the board. P valve of course😊

It really depends. I would go with a lightweight material (like trilam) since you’ll be diving warm climates. You can layer up when you take the drysuit to colder places. I dive with a DUI suit, but I’ve heard great things about Bare and waterproof too.

Good to see things going in the right direction far as the boat 🛥️ I have a question do you get paid to work with the scientist crew ?

I'm not Sarah but I know that Reef Check only has a very small paid staff. Their survey program primarily relies on a community of countless volunteers. Anyone with a rescue-level diving certification can sign up for their surveyor training class, get involved, and help collect scientific data. They use a pretty intense and well-respected scientific diving protocol though if you are interesting in building that skillset & experience.

Not specifically for these outings. I do it voluntarily but I work for them as a social media manager so I do get paid by them for other work.
