This was one of my favorite places to swim growing up. I haven't been there in almost 10 years since I joined the military. I love the clear blue water. it's so beautiful there.

Glad this is still here, feeling homesick watching Grand Rapids MN videos to feel better!

this was the pit my great grandfather mined for taconite. they were working w/equipment when it flooded. I have asked that the equipment be removed and put in museum. interesting the scuba divers didnt see that. A lot of history goes w/this pit.

Curtis, without these videos, I'd never find the motivation to explore the local diving Minnesota has to offer. Thanks again :)

I'm going to get geared up to do these areas this summer. Can you recommend a company to go with, or group to connect with?

Very neat video. I grew up in Grand Rapids and have swam in Tioga many times and always wondered what it's like way down there. Any idea how deep the pit gets?
@lahrcm10 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoy it. It bottoms out around 210 feet.

Worst sunburn I ever got in my life was at Tioga. What an amazing video! Do you know the story on the gun?
@lahrcm Жыл бұрын
Thanks. As far as I know the gun was placed there by another diver. Nothing nefarious.

Don't know about that dork with the yellow fins, some one should have told him his back up light was on.

I swim here all the time I honestly thought it would be so much darker that deep and if I was ever swimming here and saw one of all swimming down there I would freak out but this was a super cool video we really need more of these

Only one question : doesn't deco get boring in confined water like this?
@lahrcm4 жыл бұрын
The amount of deco we would have done wasn't much, not enough to be boring. It's much worse say on a wreck in Lake Superior and you have to stare at an anchor line for 30 minutes.
@andarielletz9 жыл бұрын
This makes me miss the pit so much. I live in Houston now and you can't find water that clear anywhere here!
@lahrcm9 жыл бұрын
Andariel Letz That's unfortunate. Do you ever make it back to Grand Rapids?

145 feet??!? Were you chasing coral?
@lahrcm10 жыл бұрын
165' was my deepest on that dive. Trying to get used to the narcosis for my Truk trip, some of the wrecks are 150 - 180 or so.

Why would you plant them? They are not going to grow.
