Finally, after looking through 57 different videos, you finally explained how to attach the bungee to a BCD. It was driving me crazy and of course, now that I see how easy it is, I feel a little (a lot) stupid. Thank you so much for this! Subscribed!

Nice video! Cheap elastic hair ties from your teenage daughter's stash work great too. ;) I usually keep a couple in my save-a-dive kit which can also score points with a long-haired female dive buddy who may have forgotten one :)

@geogator28 Agree with cheap elastic hair ties. I keep several in dive back pouch. Good for securing numerous items. Also great for IDing which lobsters are yours. I slip colored hair ties around lobster tail to identify the ones I've caught.

That is a great suggestion @jlmjkooj. I never thought about using the hair ties to mark you lobsters. I will definitely be doing that in the future.

I use thick hair ties for pony tails. You can get them in all kinds of colors and you get about 50 for $2-5.

They are definitely a great value money wise, and come in handy to strap down the danglies.

Nice one Brian, thank you. I am new to diving and I have learned so much from watching your videos and others like it (Diver’s Ready). I do have a question of what system you like for securing the octo to a rec style bcd and also the backplate harness? Thank you so much for your time and please keep em coming. I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy, cheers 👌.

Hello Jimmy Kabisch, I prefer to use a regulator necklace regardless of which BCD or Back Plate and Wing I wear.

Great video as always. Can you make a vid on pros and cons of mounting equipment to your calf, like shears and knives? Having the knife down there is what you will see in all classic dive scenes from Jaws and James Bond etc.
@LakeHickoryScuba7 жыл бұрын
Yes I will be happy too. We did a video in the past about how to mount a diver's tool so that it could be reached by either hand, but we will focus on the pros and cons of mounting on the leg. Give us a few days and we will get it uploaded.

What flashlight is that? Im looking for a quality primary & backup light that won't break the bank. Any recommendations? Hopefully less than $100. Love the channel! Thanks

Hello Haviken Hayes, I prefer the Comfort Zone Scuba Land and Sea for a primary, and the Mares XR Back Up light as a secondary.

I would like to know as my dive touch is a twist on one and not a push button, so when I am diving will there be any problem when I switch on my touch underwater
@LakeHickoryScuba2 жыл бұрын
Hello DiDives, this method of securing your flashlight while diving should have no effect on the operation of a twist style dive light.

So what are those little bungee/ball things called? What are they used for? I want to know where to look or what to ask for when I go to the dollar store. Thanks!

Hello Illusion (Classic Rock), they are just looped bungees at the dollar store. They usually come in a 5 pack.

Hi! Nice videos! What are those scisors I've seen on your harnesses?
@LakeHickoryScuba6 жыл бұрын
The ones I personally use come from Lifeguard Systems. We also sell XS Scuba's version, which are a titanium set of EMT Shears.

What lanyard would you recommend for use with a flashlight? I’m trying to figure out what works the best, in your experience, to keep from dropping the light into the clear blue ocean. Thanks.
@LakeHickoryScuba5 жыл бұрын
Hello C. Patrick Sadowski, I personally use a glove from Comfort Zone Scuba. This allows a hands free operation with no change of losing the light. But to be more specific for your question, most lights have a lanyard with them that can be easily attached then secured around your wrist. If you light does not come with one, simply using para-cord, you can make one yourself.

Hiya, love the videos :) I'm not sure if you've got a video already on them but how do you attach your shears to the bcd? I've seen a few pouches you can buy for shears with the velcro quick-release, is that what you're using? Many thanks!
@LakeHickoryScuba7 жыл бұрын
Hey Chester. The ones that I use come from Lifeguard Systems. XS Scuba also makes a set that comes with a sheath. The easiest way to do it, is to use some Velcro Strips that you can pick up at any craft store or Auto Parts store. Make sure to keep the soft side out, and just run it around the sheath and should strap and attach it to itself. If you want to add a little bit of security to it, you can heat up the end of a small screw driver with a lighter, and then burn 2 small holes into the sheath itself. Then you can use zip ties to attach it in the same manner. Hope this helps.

Thanks, keep up the good work.

Is there a concern about covering up the release buckle of the shoulder strap with the secured light?
@LakeHickoryScuba6 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but we personally haven't had an issue with it. Keeping the bungee secure enough to hold the light, yet loose enough to slide is key.

That ball-slide bungee can be easily retired into a tank knocker by running the bungee once through the ball’s hole and tiring the ends together. You can also buy bungee material by the foot as kayak supply departments or Army Navy stores.
