I'd love to see a video on addressing dry mouth while diving!

Switch to a rebreather 😅

the air coming out of the tank is drier than normal. if you rub your tongue to the top of your mouth it will create moisture.

I use moldable mouth peace. Amazing thing, 0 fatigue.

i have been diving my own gear for some time now and also feel jaw fatigue on some dives and have come to the conclusion it is more to do with hose configuration, i think sometimes if i have my tank set slightly lower on my bcd it makes the second stage pull to the side when i turn my head which makes me bite down to keep it in my mouth. i will eventually get a longer hose potentially with an elbow and possibly rout the hose more in a long hose configuration under my arm as apposed to over the shoulder.

Thank you for addressing this! I thought it was just me experiencing jaw fatigue 😂

It's one of those things that we don't talk about very much and after you have a regulator config that works for you, we forget about it

#ASKMARK just wondering if you would be able to do a full step by step of a setup for the XDeep stealth TEC 2.0? I know much of it personal preference but it would be good to see a clear review showing exactly where bungie straps need to go everything I see is a loose review showing you what it’s like. Also it seems to be that this is considered the best for sidemount would you agree or are their better ones out there?

I'm not the guy to ask about up-to-date SM configs, I haven't done pure SM for a few years. You need somebody like @Garry_Dallas who lives for sidemount diving.

Im about to complete my 4th ow pool session. I keep getting water around the mouthpiece as im not used to having stuff in my mouth like that. Im hoping with more dives that it will become more natural. ive even gone so far as to breathing through a snorkel when sitting at home to try to get used to it.

#askmark What I expirence more is neck fatigue. Can You make an episode on that topic?
@ScubaDiverMagazineАй бұрын
It's mainly down to head and body positioning. If you spend an hour looking up at the sky, your neck's going to ache, it's an unnatural position for us. Give it a good stretch before the dive and try to bend and flex it during the dive from time to time to give your muscles a rest.

#ASKMARK, I don't often dive cold water living in Queensland however whenever I wear a hood my mask leaks something wicked, yes I've lifted the skirt and checked to make sure that my mask isn't sitting over the hood face seal, but regardless of what I do it leaks like a sieve. Should I try trimming the hood face flange? what are your thoughts.
@ScubaDiverMagazine2 ай бұрын
You can and it may help. The face-seal is usually a raw-cut edge so you can trim it back. You're right that the most likely cause of the leak is the hood changing your face shape and trimming it should help. A little goes a long way and you can't put anything back if you cut off too much so, cut off 1mm at a time and try it on. Only cut off more if it continues to leak.

#ASKMARK I went for a pre dive just in shallow water just to see if I liked it. Now half way through Padi Open water. On my pre dive the regulator breathed quite easily whereas on my first padi pool dive there was a more pronounced effort to to breath from the regulator. How hard are they to set up specifically to your preference? Is that somèthing to request or that you can adjust, as a preference when having a regulator is serviced?. Your videos have really helped me prep for my course. Really greateful for sharing your knowledge and making these great videos.

It depends... On most 2nd stages today you'll find a breathing adjustment knob to adjust the cracking effort. Anything beyond that requires a technician to tweak the 1st or 2nd stage. It's not hard but, it's not something you want to do yourself to avoid damaging your regulator. The school regs are probably just set up to be stiff to reduce freeflows for students.

#askmark How do you handle follow on dives when your last one has been very stressful due to a shortage of air?
@ScubaDiverMagazine2 ай бұрын
Keep it simple, plan the easiest dive with the fewest variables so you can rebuild that foundation of trust in your skills and equipment. And start to work out your SAC and RMV between dives. Over time you'll start to get a feel for what your current pressure would be at any time. Other than that it's just check your gauges frequently or invest in a transmitter that alerts you when you reach a certain pressure.
