Bowline is an essential knot. I also use it in the middle of a run also.

I struggle with remembering to take all my equipment back home from the diving center I dive with 😂

The walk of shame whn you get back to the hotel and realize you left your GoPro next to the cleaning tank...

In my open water pool sessions we were taught "metal, middle, bottom, top" and given half threaded and wrongly threaded cam bands and required to fix them

Wow that's some good training. What agency?
@tomtom4405Ай бұрын
@MysticalDragon73 PADI but it's down to the chief instructor/school, I've also trained with a PADI school on holiday and they were the opposite!!. I'm sure having a good instructor is more important than which agency
@MysticalDragon73Ай бұрын
@tomtom4405 most certainly. Its also the hardest part to determine. At first I liked that we were hurried along and passed easily. However in hindsight id have loved another dive or more time spent.

Threading a cam band is unbelievably easy. So why, after 28 years of diving, do I still have the occasional brain fade.

I had to go double check if I did mine properly 😅

You have longer reach for your tank valve knob, if you point your elbow forward.

#askmark my BCD has two cam bands (Hollis ST system, if that's relevant). I usually place the top band as close to the shoulder of the tank as I can, but sometimes (usually when diving a bigger tank) I still hit the back of my head on my first stage while looking forwards in a horizontal trim. Any advice? This became a bit more of an issue recently when I did a giant stride from a tall platform: my neck snapped back when I hit the water and I got a good goose egg on the back of my head where it hit my first stage.

#askmark am wondering how dive pro's manage to get enough exercise during busy dive seasons? following the advice of no heavy exercise +- 24 hours before and after the dive, would leave little to no time for that.. thanks!

We often don't. It mainly comes down to moderation and planning. If you know you have a big dive coming up or you've just completed a big dive or consecutive dives and you know that you're saturated, you can leave the heavy workout for a day or two to be safe.

So the numbers dont make so much sense on the strap? You start with three and continue with one... I don't get the logical aspect of that. :D

#askmark any tips on buying dive gear (mostly computers) I've mostly been looking on Facebook for budgetting reasons but there's so many products with perfect pictures and description that range all the way from full sale price to 5% and less. It's so hard to find the line between scam and a great deal. I'm kinda lost. Please help pull me out of the deep mess of dive gear so I can go back deeper.

For computers, look at the shearwater peregrine, preferably the tx model even if you don't get the transmitter right now, you can add it later. Most wont outgrow it.

#askmark Hi mark Wondering if you could help me out Is there anything to insert to a neck seal while on the surface to hold it of the neck? Was out on a boat recently for about 6-8 hours and found the neck seal getting uncomfortable, also went stopped in rough waves found the pressure on my throat started to make me a bit queasy Spoke to others on the boat and they found the same problem but weren’t sure if there was a fix Many thanks Kyle

A Bioseal neck may help. If it's a latex neck seal it will need to be stretched and you can trim them if it's still too tight.

#ASKMARK techniques to learn to better use 5mm gloves and dry gloves ?
@ScubaDiverMagazine2 ай бұрын
I used to try to write with a normal pen and paper to test new gloves for dexterity. Otherwise it's rope-work. I have a few lengths of rope that I practice knots with on the surface
