Very pleased with this video. Really like that little multimeter. Nice design and such.

I still have one of these meters 👍

Very informative teardown, with an amazing level of detail. To know so much about the design of this meter I would have to guess that you must have worked on the original design. My only comment is the voltage reference is most likely LM399 not LM3999 as mentioned - correction, it is a LM3999, in T092 plastic case, a version of the LM399 without the thermal shield. Learn something new every day. :)

I fell into the error trap just as the guy who chucked it. Makes an excellent multimeter.

Nice video :-) I have a meter that looks like it is exactly the same, but with a different colour scheme. It is the Racal-Dana 4009, and appears to functions exactly the same, even down to the 6.5 digit mode.

I was really hoping that you would cover the calibration procedure but a great video Thanks

Mine has the communication modulo but not the RMS modulo. It is currently the only other one on KZbin. As far as I remember it is not an RS-232 modulo, removing it from it's home would be to much of a pain as it has an oscilloscope sitting on top of it.

Thanks for this and very helpful. Usage a lot in common with my Black Start 4503 intelligent multimeter which looks very similar and I think came from the same factory?

I’ve got this exact meter but unfortunately that ribbon cable to the membrane buttons have no less than four broken ones. How would I go and repair those?

That looks like a nice multimeter. Wouldn't mind one myself :). I currently use a Thurlby 1503, which I rather like the construction and design of.
@scullcomhobbyelectronics170210 жыл бұрын
Yes the Thurlby 1503 is also a well designed and well laid out multimeter and if my memory is correct it had a frequency counter built-in although limited range and function. If you have the 1503-HA version it is also higher specification and used two Caddock precision resistor networks.

I found one for 10$ but idk if it is worth to buy. I already bought a digital multimeter, digitech 20$ handheld modern multimeter bought from Jaycar stores. I'm wondering if this 1503 is better or not ?

Just bought one of these on ebay to give a better display than the LCD of my Fluke 8050, hope its as reliable. Video helped the decision thanks. Incidentally the R6502 and its 6522 are used in the BBC computer.

+klystron44 Its a nice accurate meter. The only weak part is the keypad which may suffer with age.
