I get my crafting wire at the hardware store; it is very cheap compared to the craft stores even if you have a coupon for the craft store the hardware store sells wire much cheaper. Another nice thing is you can buy exactly what you need/want because they sell it off the roll by the foot.

what measurements should i use if i wanted to make a big 4ft tall tree?
@SculptyWorks2 жыл бұрын
That really depends on how you bend the branches and how tight you twist everything, but more-or-less the final height is 1/4 of the wire length (24" wires got me a 6" tree). So, for a 4' tree you probably want to start with 16' wires.

I like the video and love this type tree but what size beads did you use? I've watched 100 different videos on different trees and styles and NOBODY talks about the beads or size or what they are made of just the wire and tools
@SculptyWorks4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I think I do mention somewhere in the video that those are peridot beads, but in case I forgot, well, they're peridots. 😉 I think the size doesn't matter /too much/ because you can use whatever size you feel looks better, and in the case of irregular shaped beads like these, size is all over the place. These vary anywhere from 4mm to 8mm in any direction of measurement.
@scooterb38144 жыл бұрын
@@SculptyWorks you may have said they type but not the size cause I ordered 2mm and they to dang small and gonna try 4mm this time and thank you so much for replying cause I just got into this a few days ago and its very stress releasing making these trees. I made my 1st tree out of old copper wire and it didn't turn out to good but I refuse to give up lol
@SculptyWorks4 жыл бұрын
@@scooterb3814 Yeah 2mm might be a tad small for this kind of stuff. But if you have A LOT of them, you can bunch them up and still make the 'leaves' look nice. 😉 And yes, you can use whatever wire you can manipulate easily enough! The others I've made are all copper wires; this one is silver because I got a really good deal on the wire and couldn't pass on it. And yes again, it can be quite soothing to make these little trees! Glad you're having fun with them! 👍😊
@scooterb38144 жыл бұрын
@@SculptyWorks where do you order your wire and beads? I ordered 26 gauge wire cause it small and easy to twist.
@SculptyWorks4 жыл бұрын
@@scooterb3814 The wire usually I wait for a local craft store to have some sort of sale, usually Joann or Hobby Lobby. The beads, well, the craft stores have some good options and I have bought from them before too, but in this tree's case the peridots are a precious stone and I have a supplier in India that provides me with gemstones when I need them for jewelry, and they hooked me up with the peridots too. 😉

Thank you for this video! May I ask is that a special type of glove?
@SculptyWorks3 жыл бұрын
The glove I started with was one of those cut-resistant gloves, I used it because it was the thinnest I had and gave me the best tactile feel, but handling the wires so much the glove started to fray on the fingertips, so I swapped for a leather glove. Any glove is Ok, and even no glove at all, if your fingers can take the abuse! 😉

Hi. What a lovely tree. Thank you for sharing 😊 I just have a question. How do you calculate how long the wire have to be? Will you do videos of other shapes? Tia. Lots of greetings from Denmark
@SculptyWorks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I mostly guess the length of the wires. Depending on how much you twist it, usually you can expect the final height of the tree to be about half the length of the folded wire (so 1/4 of the total length), more or less. I've been wanting to make some other trees videos, just haven't had the time to do it, way too many projects going on at same time! 😉

Left out how to do the branches ???

The wires for the branches start being shaped at 0:58 then at 1:58 I start stringing the beads, then at 3:38 I bundle the branches together and on 4:52 the branches start go together to make the whole of the tree.
