@@ChinthakaVithanage shottzy is the best player I’ve ever seen in terms of ability. But he lacks awareness etc as he hasn’t been playing for long, but it will come in time. Illey is underrated imo and I’ve been watching him since bo3, personally I think he’s playing the wrong role as he’s always been better as a Sub and not an AR/flex obj. Scump took his role this year and you can see he can’t get to his full potential at all.

Any sentence that starts with “the problem with Optic is…” is delusional. Stop trying to boil down Optic’s losses into a single thing like “they ALWAYS do blank” or “they NEVER do blank”. Simply put, Optic was great this year, they won and event, and their season was derailed when they lost Illey and so they fell behind and couldn’t catch up fast enough. They still finished the season strong. Things they proved this year is that they’re a consistently great SND roster finishing the year 9-2 over the last two tournaments and had the best record over the whole season. They proved early on that they have immense slaying power to also be dominant in respawn. Their pure dominance in control as well as their SND shows how capable they are of having great teamwork and pacing. And their dominance early in the year shows how quickly they can learn and develop a good reliable system for championship level success. Having a coach like Rambo and the passion and hard work of the players shows that they’ll never stop trying to be the best. Nothing but a bright future ahead of this Optic team.

I disagree with pat that the cdl has a chalked ecosystem because there’s no trades. The only reason trades are more prevalent in traditional sports is because all teams has a common barter commodity like draft picks that they can trade plus the player contracts are a lot longer. If a cdl team signs a player they don’t like all they have to do is decline the team option on the second year and they can get that player off their books. To bens point, building out a deeper bench with players that fit your teams culture is the better move because if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the cdl is no matter how many teams make roster changes every season at least a few more make changes mid-season

On ached comment about illey being at his best in S1 I can’t agree more. He’s an amazing player and been watching him since bo3 but illey always is one of the best at the start of every cod as he puts in the work from day1 and figures out the meta and way to play the game before everyone else. That’s why optic dominated at the very start as they found out how to play before everyone else but when other teams catch on they struggle to improve as I believe they think they’re better than they actually are. This is coming from an optic fan as well.

Ben comparing OpTic falling behind to recent years is such a bad take, the two problems were Illey being out for 2 and a half months they could never expand their map pool, those two months they could of worked on Berlin instead they had to play what they were comfortable on, and on top of it Shottzy just never got back to form consistently after Illey was out, he went .6 against Surge, if he's at a .8 they win that series easy for how close Maps 3 and 4 were. Aches hit it on the head, Shottzy is too influential to do that and expect them to win.

Everyone had such high expectations out of the optic roster but the players as individuals who were supposed to be superstars were so inconsistent. The only one to be consistent was dashy but somehow he drops a 1.2 on every team. I don’t see how Shotzzy is supposed to be the star player, most impactful, top sub in the game and he’s struggling to break even and got fried all weekend. Anyone else just not impressed by Shotzzy at all this year and think we could’ve maybe been better off with envoy ?
