Awesome walk today in the town. I enjoyed it. Can't wait to see more soon. Very beautiful and historical the buildings and houses are. Your history lessons are always awesome. And your walks are always enjoyable. How is your weekend going? Mine is going great. Have a great day greetings from Canada 😀

Great tour. I was born here, in 1957, on Mary Street. I gather the house I was born in is now a car park! Having left Sunny Scunny aged 13 I've only been back occasionally for specific family events (weddings & funerals). Not sure I'd recognise the place now.

Wow! It's a shame indeed if your house is no longer standing, but as you mention Scunthorpe has changed enormously over the last half-century, with some very impressive regeneration work around town! I hope this tour will have opened some new perspectives on your hometown for the next time you visit - and thank you very much for watching!

All I knew about Scunthorpe was that their football club is nicknamed 'the iron'. Now I don't wonder why anymore. ;) I think, many smaller cities and towns in the UK look like some kind of living museums preserving the heritage of the industrial revolution in a positive way. Just look at how lovely these houses were built compared to these square, soulless boxes made of steel and glass of today. Living and especially working must have been much harder and much more uncomfortable at that time. But I'm not sure if we are really happier now, seeming to lose more and more of our human traits through technocracy and digitalisation...depression and other mental disorders are on the rise. I guess we're neither meant to work ourselves to death in a mine nor to watch on a screen all day long and checking instagram, Twitter or cryptocurrency price charts. Love your videos and have just subscribed. I wish you and all of your viewers a merry christmas and a happy new year from Germany, and sorry for my English (obviously, it's not my native language)

That's a very interesting insight! I must say that you're absolutely right that the historic houses you see in smaller towns across Britain do have a lot more character than many of the new-build apartment blocks, but that's perhaps simply because we can associate them with so much history! Either way, it's always good to see them preserved, and Scunthorpe has begun to start celebrating its heritage nicely in recent years :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos, and a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

I've never been to Scunthorpe... Actually rather lovely....V nice 👍 video as always.... You filmed Unusually when it's quiet...you normally are an expert in dodging hundreds of Shoppers. . Can't wait to your next destination.....

Nor had I before this visit - a sunny blue sky always makes England look impressive and this very peaceful morning made for a lovely stroll through the centre of Scunthorpe - a town not a lot of people know all that much about :) Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words - do stay tuned for more walks :)

The high St is clearly tired and needs some work done on it. The main Square is already being renovated. Otherwise a pretty nice town and an interesting lecture. Thank you very much. Let's walk!

Certainly there is a lot of work going on in Scunthorpe to regenerate parts of the town - Church Square as you say has been impressively modernised and it's a rather nice place to be, though I would like to see the High Street retain many of its historic buildings to give a few back to Scunthorpe in its industrial heyday :) Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!

I live not far from Scunny so visit parts fairly often but not the centre. Surprised to see how it’s changed so much. Would love for you to to do a “walk” around Barton upon Humber, when I moved here I was surprised at its heritage and famous past residents for such a small market town.

Thank you so much! Indeed Scunthorpe is a much-changed place over the last few decades - and there's a lot to like about it :) And thank you for mentioning Barton upon Humber, I've never actually been before - so I'll put that on my list of future walks, I look forward to visiting - and do stay tuned for the video :)

i am from here, it’s not only weird seeing this town get attention in general but some that isn’t overarchingly negative as that’s the main form we have gotten for… well decades really. if you see this how did you find your time here?

Ha ha having often heard a few not-so-nice things about Scunthorpe in the past I didn't know what to expect upon visiting - this was my first time there! I must say that I rather liked the town centre on this sunny morning, although I wasn't around in the afternoon when I imagine things get busier. But one thing Scunthorpe really has going for it is a proud history, and putting that on display with things like the Steelworkers Sculpture really impressed me, I'd love to see more of that next time I visit :) I hope you enjoyed the video - and thanks for watching!

@@LetsWalkUK during the quiet mornings this place is borderline beautiful in my opinion you definitely saw scunthorpe at its best. The history of this place is never really taught to us, i have just left the education system so I'm relatively young and up to date with its teachings and its little covered ever really. I learnt more about my town from this video than anything else, so for that thank u

Once again, many thanks for another intriguing documentary. That is quite a solid station for a relatively calm town. The Blue Bell appears equally solid .Have the people of Scunthorpe turned their back on religion ? Would a Tibetan shrine be aesthetically pleasing ?

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - Scunthorpe does have a number of very solid buildings that are home to some riveting hidden history, while the two central churches make for an eye-catching look back to the past :)

I noticed you didn’t do your filming when the low life awakens & takes over the town. Nor did you travel down Frodingham road & the other streets adjoined to the high street. Why not show the viewers the real Scunthorpe instead of a council mans take on.. oh look at what we’ve done, this is where you’re tax money as gone! Instead of dealing with the real issues that plague the town. I will do you a real video of Scunthorpe & you can put that up on your channel. Good day sir
