Love Together’s song “Don’t think we can make it” was an excellent self written number. Would have been top 5 if released and marketed well. Well worth seeking out.

There's no reason to hate Jess Yates - he raised Paula Yates as his own and accepted her as a daughter. Hughie Green was a womanizer during his prime and probably knocked up more than just Paula's mother. He was reputable for having his way with the ladies. If Paula didn't learn of her true fathers identity until 1997 - it was at her mothers disgression (right or wrong) Jess Yates respected that wish. Hughie may have even know that Paula Yates was his daughter and never attempted to contact her

There was a lot of good and a lot of rubbish on theses shows, I still recall a so called comedy double act who just stood there and whispered to each other and pulled faces, the panel thought they were fantastic, they were never seen again...

X Factor is a carbon copy of New Faces and Cowell is simply aping the bad boy shite that was Tony Hatch. Loathed Hatch...and then came Cowell!

How on earth did Showaddywaddy NOT come first ? Went on to sell millions. I love the comment below - Simon Cowell basically referred to as a clone of Tony Hatch - "a sh*t Tony Hatch ?!

+Graham Goodall As far as I can gather, this was an all winners show from March 1976. Showaddywaddy's first appearance on New Faces was back in November 1973. In that program they won and were runners up in the all winners final of that same year. By the time this show was broadcast, they had already scored numerous hits in the charts . Their first was single "Hey Rock and Roll", which was released in April 1974 and reached number 2 in the UK charts. I'm sure you probably know this already :-)

@Graham Goodall. I think Micky Most and Tony Hatch gave good comments. They would be excellent for X Factor or B GT. Cowell knows how to give comments but knows F. All about music.

Finding and exposing talent are its redeeming qualities. The judgemental format; winners and losers, were more for the agents and bookers imho, each audience and club can be as different as the next. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I would agree that some of the nation’s most beloved performers have come through this programme’s trial by jury to achieve that vital step onto the ladder of fame.
