Super happy for you. You’re such a kind, genuine and cool dude that you really deserved it. You could be a Dick in real life but from what I’ve been seeing, you seem to really do good stuff. I met one of your buddies at mission bay launch the other day. I’m sure we’ll run into each other some day. Take care.

That's my worst nightmare on a big fishing charter like that. You have a lot of googans that have no idea what they're doing or they just don't care that you're fighting a big fish and they don't get out of your way and you lose the fish because of it. Good on ya for your positive attitude, though. You did better than I would've done!

@SDFishandSips
@SDFishandSips 3 жыл бұрын
Glow in the dark flat fall, SK, knife jigs, and colt snipers are all good jigs. Heavier lure 150gram and above are best to get down to where the bigger bluefin are in the school. Most of the time there will be smaller grade bluefin near the surface and bigger bluefin down below.

Thank you Moon. It’s super busy right now so check to see what overnight boats have spots available. I’ve been on Mustang Sportfishing overnight out of fishermans landing and there is also the Condor out of Fisherman’s landing. Old Glory and Daiwa Pacific, are out of H&M. There are also other landings in San Diego with overnight boats. Point Loma Sportfishing and Seaforth Landing are other options with overnight boats. You can also consider 1.5 day trips that give you a little more time fishing. You will get a full day offshore and more night fishing on a 1.5 day trip vs overnight. Thanks for watching. Hi, been following your vids for about 6 months or so. Always entertaining. Have a few questions. Was the Terez a conventional rod or a rail rod and if so what was it rated? Looked like it was under great strain on the rail. The other question has to do with the sinker rig. Did you use the Katy Perry with the sinker rig or just flat fall it? Using a jig with a sinker rig -- if it wouldn't foul your line -- would be much better than live bait for several reasons. Oh, and how many grams for the Katy Perry? Best.
@PacRam619

Nerve wracking watching all those lines wrapped on your fish. That is part of the game though on open party, especially shorter length trips. Getting pissed does no one any good. Some people are still trying to learn. I think there is nothing worse than someone who blows up on everyone who makes even the smallest mistakes. I call them "Half day heroes". Always have the nicest gear and act like they own the place. Makes people not want to come back. When I first moved out here I used to fish rental gear and outfish a lot of people on the boats with their custom sticks and accurates. Amazing what dicks they would be until they saw me putting fish on the boat. Then we would be friends by the end of the trips. But the way people acted on the shorter trips (overnight or less) made me almost quit. A friend convinced me that 2 day and longer are usualy a lot more relaxed because there is time to recover from mistakes. I finally invested in my own gear when I hooked and lost 4 Yellows to the dogs on a half day because the rental gear had shitty sticky drags. The last yellow was a monster, definitely over 30lbs . The deck hands tried everything, even throwing bonita and cuda to the dogs to keep them away. Got that monster yellow to almost gaff range midway up the rail on the starboard side. Then a big ass dog came out of nowhere and got it =(. But congrats on the nice fish. What # gear were you using on the sinker and the sniper?

I believe Captain Robert (the one who gives the speech) is on the Spirit of Adventure 80 now. I would call the landing and double check. Thanks for watching!

Did you cast the iron or just drop down and reel up?
@SDFishandSips
@SDFishandSips 3 жыл бұрын
Just drop straight down from the starboard stern corner. Try and get it down deeper to where the bigger tunas are at.

Haha. Thanks bro. Yes I finally hooked up on a very big bluefin on the sinker rig 300’ deep, fight it for a half hour, get it all the way to my mono top shot (last 100’) and then loose the fish because other anglers on the boat lost track of their lines and got tangled in mine. But I kept grinding all day, no other bites until finally got those back to back personal best bluefin tunas.
