@Tony670323 жыл бұрын
does it makes sense 130lb setup tapper down to 50lb mono to 60lb floro for sinker rig , wouldn't the rod be to stiff plus you wont be able to even lift that hard, you would break that 50lb leader , I mean if you have a setup that holds 500 yards of 65 or 80 with the proper rod you will be able to land it
@SDFishandSips3 жыл бұрын
BFT is tough fishing
@Tony670323 жыл бұрын
@@SDFishandSips yeah but what he said dont make sense 130 tapper to 60 just use a reel with 500 yard of 60lb , anyways you will have to set your drag to 60lb and not 130lb
@gusrojas65003 жыл бұрын
Damm. 😳. Lots of action. What would be best to take on full day trip. About how many rods , I have 2 combos for 20-60lb. And 1 combo for 100lb plus Is that enough ?? This will be my 1st time tuna fishing
@RatedRTV3 жыл бұрын
Its always best to call the landing to check what size fish they've been seeing. On a full day youll usually just see school size yellowfin with some smaller blues mixed in. At minimum id bring a 25lb, 40lb and an 80lb. Those are the flouo leader recommendations, the braid backing would be heavier on each setup.
@SDFishandSips3 жыл бұрын
If you’re going right now on a boat that is targeting big bluefin bring 1 100lb setup (2 speed lever drag reel with strong drag and lots of 80-100lb braid) and 1 40lb setup. Keep it simple and stay focused. Good luck!

I am still trying to understand why he is pushing 130lb braid. The reels drag will be set to a 1/4-1/3 of the fluoro/mono at strike so it really doesn't matter what the braid backing is as long as it is higher rated than the topshot. Is it for the larger frame reel or possibly higher capacity?
@RatedRTV3 жыл бұрын
On a heavy setup like 80+ its typically on a bigger/wider reel, so having 80 braid to 80 top, would take a lot of braid to fill the reel $$$. Also since the diameter isn't a huge difference from 80 to 130, your better off running 130 for the extra strength and cut resistance(in case you rub braid with another fish) and then youll spend less on the braid since youll have a little less capacity. Lastly you can now run 80, 100, or 130 flouro on top that 130 braid

@@SDFishandSips thanks just try to understand. I most likely have to up my reel size bashed on the size of fish being caught. Went out last year and most BFT were 25-50 lbs in late July so I could get by with a smaller reel.
