@@tylerlane4587 too expensive, I tried asking ways to sign up and I just kept getting half assed answers. Truthfully I spent time on KZbin learning on my own apart from what I learned in the military now I can fix modify my own guns and rifles more than what I did in the army as well as 3D printing lower receivers and new parts for my firearms

Pretty kewl! I'm just starting the Advanced Gunsmithing Course at SDI, day 1 today. Pretty excited to see what I'm going to eventually be working on. I'm able to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill so my course if fully paid for.

@@Dave501z Course was pretty good for being strictly on-line. If I were really wanting to be a gunsmith an in class hands on course would the way to go. Did build an LR-308 (AR-10) for final project from 80% lower. Turned out great. The course however has changed and no longer use 80% lower...send you a stripped lower via FFL and don't teach how to build it. But you do get a gun out of it either way.

I just got into the school, start may 5th. Was wondering what you do with the rifle after it is built, does it go back to the school, the gun store you picked it up from or is it yours to keep?

You get to keep it because the course is expensive and you should get something after all besides knowledge :)

Very nice looking kit, google seems to have a lot regarding wood for the ar10 , try and get a triangular fore grip if possible they look nicer to me.

I am 7 weeks from completing the SDI associates course, actually working on my AR10 as we speak. I've enjoyed it. It has rekindled the passion for guns that I had years ago. I've done some custom work that I would have previously never tried, mostly due to confidence due to the basic stuff I got my hands on in the lab parts of the course.

I audited the course so I did not earn the degree. The funny thing is I completed it with a very good grade but since I was doing it for Zeke Stout, they thought it best I just be considered n audit and not a degree if that makes since. But I worked on it hard daily :)

@@Road2Richies That is cool you are doing this. I audited a few classes so what I was doing was a bit different than the whole degree. I think that is why they sent me everything up front. What is cool is all of the stuff I was able to get for my library from downloading it from their website.

I was told you have to do an essay every week for every class in advanced gunsmithing course is that true?

2 per week. They are 400 whole words a piece. SO that is equivalent to about 15 minutes of typing. And you do 2 classes per term so it is 4 essays per week. 1600 words, so 30 minutes of typing maybe. It's not bad at all.
