I have the TS 590s base model and I want to output from the transceiver to my PC...I've heard basically that you need to use the SDR play type software and an antenna switch (and splitter?) to protect the software during transmission periods...I would like to know what additional components that I will need to perform this operation--what hardware that I need to acquire and how I need to hook up this hardware...also, I need to know specifically what software options are required...I am a layman at this SDR stuff so I need plain and simple explanations--please! I see all sorts of ways to do this 'out there' but nothing specific in terms of how to configure the hardware and software. Many thanks in advance! Stephen Gilbert W5SCG

Hi Stephen. You don't need SDRPlay, any SDR software will do as long as it suits your SDR receiver. Please see this post for the hardware setup: arcticpeak.blogspot.com/2015/10/how-to-share-common-antenna-with.html

Hi Martinhow did you synch both rig ? your SDR don't seem to be plugged the "conventional way" at the IF level and as far as I know, there is no "hdsdr TS950 dll" to drive it's VFO... just curious73'De marc f6itu

+Marc Olanie The SDRplay is not connected to the IF, it shares the antenna with the transceiver through a splitter, in TX, the antenna is removed from the SDRplay with a relay.

Have you noticed any 'drift' with the SDRPlay? For example when you are in CW mode and just turn everything on. Is there any drift over time ? The RTL's, even the TCXO RTL's all drift a enough that over time you can be off quite a bit while in CW mode. I'm just curious if the SDRPlay suffers from the same? DE NW0W

Tim Havens I haven't noticed any drift yet, I haven't tryed any CW yet, but I have played a little With PSK-31.

Hello, Did you have to modify the RTR-1A in any way or just use it as it comes from DX engineering? The RTR-1A is no longer available but is replaced by the RTE-2. Thanks Jeff Morris KB1ZHS

Hi you have a really nice setup but one question can you do the same without the DX engineering switching box using the rx out pin or the drv pin out from the ts590 dsp or its there for nothing please reply to me as soon as possible thank you a61BN from Dubai 73

Mohammed Buti If you have the TS-590SG you don't need any external switch box.

Could you add a link to specifics on how you have the system hooked up. I have the ts-590s and the dx engineering box and the sdrplay adaptor. I have to re-invent the wheel if someone else has already worked out the specifics of hooking it up. 73's WD5ENJ, good in QRZ. Thanks in advance

+Floyd Adams Hi Floyd. There are already a link posted to how it is Connected. The link specifies the Elad Switch Box, but the setup is simular for the RTR-1A. here is the link to my current setup: arcticpeak.blogspot.no/2015/10/how-to-share-common-antenna-with.html

How I have hooked everything up is now shown here: arcticpeak.blogspot.no/2016/03/how-i-use-dx-engineering-rtr-1a-to.html
