nice example of clean reception wit the wellbrook and an sdr

@revadan KZbin won't allow to to reply directly to you for some reason...But the gains are meant to be different as the RSP1 and RSP2 are different devices. We are adjusting the gains for maximum SNR, and then comparing from there.

It seems like that RSP1 is much noiser than RSP 2. Is it because of using different antennas or different sensitivities? Besides, both of them are overloaded.

Using the same antenna, and gains are adjusted for max SNR on each device. RSP1 is probably a bit worse due to less filtering. Of note is that the new RSP1A is a lot better than the RSP1.

I noticed that in RSP1 The LNA is Off. In my experiments and measures, I found that RSP1 has better sensitivity and lower noise floor when LNA is ON. In fact, LNA must be always on! If the signal at the front end is too strong, than you can lower it with external step attenuator. In that case, the SNR will be much better. Regards, Mile Kokotov, Z33T

I did try use the LNA, but it seemed to be overloading on BC AM causing worse SNR, hence it was turned off. But yes maybe a step attenuator with LNA on could help.
